I was looking for a sandwich or torta with horchata. But as soon as I walked in and looked at the hot food available behind the display glass with stewed meats, birria de canna, tripe caldo de Rey, I ordered a plate of guisado. The pork ribs WTH salsa verde sauce caught my eyes. With rice and beans, this made a hearty lunch. Pork ribs are tender and meats falling off the bone with flavor! It is tangy, little spicy with kick will made you return just for this alone! There are several tables inside the vegetable aisle. Sat down and enjoyed my lunch with views of red and green peppers, limes, lemons, jalapeños, avocados, and melons. This mini-mart is clean and well organized. Vegetable are fresh. One look at their bakery offerings made my mouth watering! The price is reasonable! Definitely, this is my new go to Mexican take out place!

Surprise, it is not Mexican, it is Spanish/Brazilian grocery store with a restaurant. They make their own breads and have a daily buffet! I was flying solo in the neighborhood and stop by for an early lunch. You have to enter the restaurant from the Grocery entrance door! In the back, behinds the selves, there were breads, muffin and other sweets on display and on the right, is a door way to a restaurant. A staff greeted me and I explained to him, this is my first visit here. Do you charge by weight or all you can eat? He explained to me in half English and Portuguese that it is all you can eat. It was early around 11:30 and he is stilling preparing the buffet. He prepared me a grilled steak with onion especially for me. There were Fried Pork skins or Pururuca de porco, Pasta, Chicken with Okra, Feijoada (Brazilian bean stew), white rice and salad bar. I started with a little salad and it was fresh! I have a bowl of Feijoada over rice and Pururuca de porco. It was delicious. This is a meal by itself! The pasta was spots on. I saw a sign "Caldo de Cana" or sugarcane juice, but I opted for a Guarana soda! It went well with my man-size lunch! Is this a high-end place like Rodizio or Texas de Brazil. It does not have a great selection on the weekday and not in the best location in town but the food is delicious.

The shop is very simple, kind of rural and run down, doesn't have a ton of selection, but we love the fresh corn tortillas they carry here. Ingredients are simply corn and lime - no fillers or preservatives & they're even made in LaBelle. Of course there are plenty of other foods to go along with it, Mexican pastries and frozen fruit pops. We also buy our masa for tamales here. Prices r a little higher than I would have expected. Fresh produce selection is limited and doesn't often look fresh. There is a prepared hot food area for take away as well, which we haven't tried, but the gals who work that area r extremely nice and helpful. A bus of farm workers often stops here so that's the only time we've had to wait in line. Sometimes there's also a fruit/agua fresca truck outside where u can get a drink. In you're in the area and looking for some delicious tortillas, stop by & grab the Las Gemelas corn tortillas.

It's simple, unfussy, and exactly what you expect from a place like this, which is part of its charm. [Review 1598 of 2025 - 2176 in Florida - 25146 overall]
