Had a wonderful stay here! The hotel managers give five star service! Hector always made sure everything was going well and was incredibly helpful and informative! Very walkable to everything. Great space for a family with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and and kitchen. Views were amazing too!! I would definitely come back! read more
It's a great resort a block away from the malecón. I have to be honest, I'm a 5 star resort kind of guy when I go to Mexico, but we went with family that are from La Paz and we stayed there because they stayed there. Didn't know what to expect. Hector, the manager there, made me feel like a King. The service was amazing. Every time Hector saw me he suggested places to eat and things to do, then he would ask me if I wanted breakfast the next day to have the ladies ready to cook for us. $100 pesos for the meal ($5.00 USD). The rooms are mainly 2bd, 2bath, with AC, a kitchen living room, and balcony. Each room has a pull out bed. Great price, but taxes are a killer. Perfect for a family. If you have a car, they have very secured parking. The pool was never busy. It felt like the resort was ours for the 4 nights we stayed there. The cleaning was service was very good. Better than I expected. Will definitely stay there next time we go. The beaches are much better than Cabo 100%. FYI: Right now during COVID, the public beaches are closed and last call for alcohol is 5pm. I already booked prior to the new mandate. There's ways around the beach rule. You can access beaches that can only by accessed by private hotels and if you take the boat tours, the beaches are accessible. read more

Las Gaviotas This "hotel' is really a block of 16 or so condos on 4 floors set back, on a small hill, a short block from the water. I think all the condos or "rooms" are pretty much the same. Each "room" has two large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large area that contains a foyer, a small but nice kitchen, a dining area, and a sitting area that serves as living room with a sea view. Each room has a very large covered balcony facing La Paz Bay a stone's throw away. Las Gaviotas gives you a lot for the money. Especially since the rooms can accommodate 4 or even 6 people. I am part of a group of guy friends who has gone to La Paz for fishing and relaxing for more than 20 years. With our former hotels unavailable, one permanently shut and the other being upgraded to a five star resort that will probably be out of our price range, we looked around (during the Pandemic) on the Internet for somewhere nice to spend our two weeks. Friends who knew us well and live in La Paz said, "Las Gaviotas is what you want", and they were right. Due to the Pandemic the hotel situation was strange soI called the manager, Hector Caraza, directly. Securing a block of 6 rooms for 12 days in a small hotel can be tricky. It required a substantial deposit to hold the rooms . Three COVID waves and three cancelations and almost two years later I was concerned that my money might be staying in Mexico forever, but Hector was pleasant, helpful, and did exactly what he said he would do. As we canceled and extended the deposit was shifted and reapplied. When our trip actually happened in June of 2022 I finally got to meet Hector and his lovely wife, Alexandra or Ale. They couldn't have been nicer and our stay was very comfortable and there were no surprises. Since there are really few rooms at Las Gaviotas the staff was small and easy to get to know. It had the feel of a family run establishment, relaxed, informal and friendly. All seemed very "Mexican" which is what we like since we like and enjoy Mexico. During our stay any problems were minor and quickly addressed and we had 6 rooms for 12 days. The pool is large and refreshing, there is indoor and safe parking, and a small very rustic eating area and snack bar which you can use for grabbing a simple breakfast and snacks, but with several really excellent and reasonable Mexican restaurants within 1 to 3 easy blocks I suggest you step out for your main meals. Try to get the rooms on the upper floors, 3 or 4, since the view, and breeze, is better. If you are looking for a full service American style hotel, this may not be it, but if you want to feel like you are in Mexico with friendly folks who become like friends during your stay and you want to relax and settle in to a very comfortable place where you can really spread out this is it. As a nate, In spite of spending lots of time travel I do not write many reviews. Maybe 7 or 8 total. But I like Las Gaviotas and the people who run it and want them to be successful so it stays as it is and I can go back and find it like I remember it. Maybe I'll take my wife next time. Please give Hector my best. William (Tony) de Prado read more

I stayed at Las Gaviotas Hotel-Condo from Dec. 10th - Dec. 14th and I was totally impressed with this place. The space was huge with 2 bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, living room and huge balconies with incredible views. The pool area was a nice comfortable space with plenty of room to relax and spread out. The location was walking distance to everything and the staff was amazing and very helpful every step of the way. Cleaning service was very thorough and flexible to my schedule. I would stay here again and recommend this place to anyone. Very good value for the rate. I will be back. read more

My husband and I just came back from 5 days at Las Gaviotas Resort in La Paz, Mexico. It was our first time in La Paz and we were SO happy we chose this beautiful resort. Not only did we have wonderful, spacious rooms but the view was truly breathtaking. I had to pinch myself every time I looked out the huge windows. Even more important though is that the owners were so gracious and helped us navigate around La Paz, and also made excellent suggestions. Linda also made reservations for us -- both for an adventure at sea and for a taxi to take us back to the airport. Speaking of the airport, going over the bridge from the US right into the Tijuana Airport made the trip to La Paz effortless, shorter, and less expensive. We would highly recommend staying at Las Gaviotas -- and we plan to do so ourselves again some time soon. read more

Hospitality experts! Our family of 4 (elder, mid-aged and 16 yr. old) enjoyed a 5-night-stay at Las Gaviotas Resort from 12/19-12/24/15. Communication with the hotel managers before the trip was excellent and all questions were promptly answered. The hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to a number of good restaurants (we never had a bad meal), shopping, el Malecón and within a short drive to some beautiful beaches (Tecolote and Balandra) Hotel staff graciously offer good suggestions for restaurants and activities, even arranging our whale shark adventure for us. Relaxing on the balcony we got to see a good variety of birds, with a view of the Sea of Cortez and the Malecón just a block away. A bountiful breakfast with eggs prepared to order by our attentive hosts is served every morning by the pool. The heated pool is a delight and part of the reason we chose this place over another in town (which also looked good, with a nice, responsive owner, but we liked the location we chose much more.) The suite was clean and well-supplied. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. We would go back in a heartbeat and stay here or at the B&B run by the same staff, the Posada Colibrí. read more
