Day 1 at the daycare.... my 1 yr old son had an accident that required his clothes to be changed. When I brought him home & opened the plastic bag that had his dirty clothes in it, it smelled so bad I had to immediately wash them. As I pulled the clothes out of the bag a PILE OF POOP fell out of his clothes into my bathroom sink!!! I understand that accidents happen but common sense tells you not to leave the poop wrapped up in his clothes! The excuse that was made was "I didn't know if you wanted us to wash his clothes at the school." I don't care if you don't wash the clothes but THE LEAST you can do is REMOVE THE POOP!!! I paid $325 for registration, supplies fee, & tuition to have POOP in my sink on DAY 1! I really want to withdraw him TODAY but I want my money back!!!! read more

So I waited a few months before posting this review. I was nervous about placing my toddler anywhere in Irving. I toured several places and they were disgusting. Chipped paint on walls, teachers were missing teeth and kids looked dirty. EVERY daycare within a 5 mile radius from our house in Las Colinas was horrible.... Except LCCA. I walked in and was greeted with a smile. The place was very clean and the teachers were outgoing and very sweet. There was a mixture of races in every class so no child felt like the minority. This was very important to me since most of the other daycare's catered to either certain races or economical-class. The rates are reasonable for the area and the facility looks like an elementary school inside instead of a daycare. I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for two things. 1. They didn't notify parents when the owner tested positive for Flu A. The only reason I knew is because when I went up there to notify them my son was positive, she told me she tested positive for Flu A a week prior. I think it is common courtesy to notify parents to prevent an outbreak... Flu, pink eye, lice.... so you know to look for the symptoms and can address it. 2. They don't pick up for after school care. Which means my older kids have to stay at YMCA at their school. This is a huge inconvenience for parent who have to make 2 stops on the way home. Over all this is a great place to have your little ones. Hands down, this is by far the best option in the North Irving/Las Colina's area. read more

My little one was kicked out because i called the licensing board to investigate their practices. He was 4 but was placed with 2 year olds because according to them, he was acting like them. Also, most of the staff that had longevity left suddenly, and what used to be a stable low turnover is a revolving door of untrained caregivers. read more

0 star review False description of services - the closed circuit TV does not work. We told the owner that this feature is important to us at least for the first 1-2 days to see how our child is adjusting. And in response, they told us that the cc-TV was there to observe the kids. Later, after we made the payment, we were told that the cc-TV is out of order and will stay that way indefinitely. Of course, they refused to refund money when we wanted to quit. Unprofessional management - Do not expect a refund even when their services are lacking. We were never registered but were charged the $50 registration fee anyway. They charged the annual supply fee $25 (even when it does not say non-refundable on their marketing material). Overall they charged me more than $110 for less than 1 hour of service. They have no understanding of the term "customer satisfaction". They are pretty OK with the idea of charging for services not delivered. Also, be prepared to be shooed away if you complain about anything. The overall environment at the academy does not feel cheerful/nurturing. In our brief visit there, we saw kids crying for extended stretches and not receiving any attention from the staff. It is not the kind of place I would want to send my kids to and I will not recommend this place to anyone I care about. read more

So this daycare is ridiculous i hate that my child is there she was so smart before she went there now she is talking like a baby. I havent seen anything that makes me think this is a great school. my child is starving every time i pick her up. The Chinese lady is soooooo rude she need to learn some people skills. they also send the kids out side to much i do see any structure per this daycare. anyone who sends their kid here could not care and their early learning stage of life to be honest cant wait to get away from this place read more

My review is from an educator's view as well as a former employee. Upon being hired here, I was told that many changes were being made and to bare with them as they find their footing. Quite naturally it's understandable to change the procedures of a business if you see other ways of it working better. I quickly found out that the teachers are very overworked and unhappy. Whenever teachers feel used they only give half effort...I did it! I'm sorry but a degreed teacher does not deserve $10.50 per hour when they have over 10 years experience. Ellen is the owner and her inability and dull effort to connect with the parents is killing the business. She does not know how to communicate and have compassion towards the parents and children. The ethics of this company should be questioned greatly and furthermore the school as a whole needs new management. As long as Ellen is over the company it will not grow. Parents need to see ethical practices with integrity and love towards their children. Only certain parents are happy and the others are miserable. I ranked a daycare and a private school and the amount of money coming into the school is more than enough to take care of in house issues. And also, for the future, I hope they learn what real childcare meanss. Anybody can run a business but to teach children you must become much more soft and loving in your approach. read more

My grandchildren have been going to this school and absolutely love it! They love all the different activities they do and get so excited about spirit week! The facility is always so clean and well staffed. The curriculum is top notch. The teachers are well trained, and very passionate about teaching the children. I am a former employee of Los Colinas Children's Academy. I have worked in childcare for 4 years and NEVER seen anything like this. All the reviews from former employees and parents are true. I worked there for 3 weeks before I walked out. On my first day at the job, I asked Mr. Johnny or Uncle Johnny, (whose real name is John Kapp) who the owner was, he gave me a false name. After several phone calls, I discovered that the Asian woman, Miss Ellen, was in fact the owner. Her real name is Jinghui Wang. I did not receive any legal documents for a new hire until almost a week later. You are hired on as a contractor and not a teacher. They give you money orders and personal checks for you wages. You are to file your own taxes at the end of the year. My first pay check was a blank money order, with only my name. If you do not give them a two week notice they will give you $7.50 a hour. However, that is not true because I never received my last pay check. Jinghui Wang, claimed she did not know when I worked. Ms. Alma is the African American cook and manager. On my first day of training, I attempted to pull out a pen and pad to take notes. She told me to put it away because, all I needed to know was how to discipline and control the children. Her means of "control" is threatening to spank the children, call their parents, or not give them snacks or food. For nap time, if the children don't sleep, she makes them stand up until they get tired, snatches their blankets, or forcefully throw them in their cots. Speaking of cots, they were not cleaned for the 3 weeks I was there. Several of the cots were so torn and damaged, the children were actually laying on the floor. The toys were never cleaned either. They literally had layers of dirt on them. I fell ill the first week I worked there. The entire school smells like urine. This is why they like to keep an abundance of air freshener. The children act out because they are bored and there is too much change. They constantly are being thrown from room to room because they can't keep employees. There are no lesson plans or any type of age appropriate curriculum for the children. They color ditto sheets all day long and have recess two to three times a day. I have also, witnessed Miss Alma call a child who was possibly autistic, "Dummy" and "Do-Do". She laughed about it. I am horrified of my experience and hated to leave the children and unknowing parents alone with those horrible people. If you are a former or current employee or a parent whose child is going to this day care. I STRONGLY urge you to report them to DFPS. If you are considering this place for employment or for your child, PLEASE find some other place. Jinghui Wang a.k.a Miss Ellen and Miss Elma are two middle aged Coretta Devilles'. (Didn't want to give one star)I don't know why I have waited so long on writing my review. I was literally upset for months from the situation that occurred with my infant at this daycare. My child was going on four months at the time. I feel the staff just got too comfortable with routine. My child was not mobile, but there were a couple of mobile children in the infant class. My child was in a bouncy chair and one of the mobile kids went up to him and climbed on the chair he was in, she grabbed both sides of his face, and when she fell she broke skin on his face from scratching when going down. It made me wonder how long were the children without supervision. My child cannot move and protect himself so I felt that eyes would stay on this classroom dynamic because there were mobile children in the mix. The DIRECTOR told me "kids will be kids" instead of taking the blame and explaining how this would be corrected going forward. Maybe in a toddler class, but this SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED IN AN INFANT CLASS. She never let me see the tape. Had every excuse not to show it to me, because I am sure they were not being watched for a unreasonable amount of time. The director was very unprofessional and I am so glad I handled myself much better than I thought I could sitting in front of her as she stuttered not knowing how to continue her lying. The teacher may have made a mistake, but she apologized and I felt she was sincere. I took him out of there the next day. read more

My child has been going for months & I am happy with his growth and care provided. Though during his sick days he wasn't treated with care. They charge weekly which is good. This daycare has without a doubt been the worst decision I have ever made. I moved to Las Colinas in December of 2013 and had all of 5 days to find a childcare. So in between prices and times and programs I chose this one.. Everything seemed normal for the first month.. The staff was a little wierd but I try not to judge and my 4 year old at the time is VERY vocal and he communicates EXTREMELY well so I didnt take any concern because he was fine. He did cry the first week of me dropping him off and when I called back to check after 30 mins they said he was fine. Well, come to find out the asian lady had been screaming in his face to stop crying (not sure if it was every single day or not.. I think depending on the time i dropped him off he might not see her and go straight to his class). Then I spoke to someone about it.. and she told me that she would talk to her about it and blah blah.. and before I heard this I saw her yelling at two other kids.. and she immediately stopped when she saw that I was watching. One of the kids was asian also so I wasnt sure if they were related or maybe there was something more to what I had seen. The front desk lady told me that when she talked to the asian lady that she denied everything and that kids lie all the time. And yes, kids lie but my child told me when we were walking out of daycare.. " mom do you know who that is? thats the lady that screamed in my face to stop crying" and he wouldnt just make up something like that. So they continued to lie and tell me that I had to pay 2 weeks notice because I was pulling my child out of their daycare but I told them that I paid for the days he was there and I refuse to pay for any more and never went back. I recieved two phone calls about the 2 weeks payments and that i needed to come back but I never did.. I even left his blanket and jacket from naps because I was trying to stay away from the drama. So now.. on February 2nd 2015 I called to get the tax ID number to file my taxes and claim what I paid them. After i gave her my childs name to prove he used to go there she told me they had a data loss and dont have it anymore. THEN I called back and the creepy tall guy told me VERY RUDELY that it was some random number and wouldnt repeat it to me... and it was 11 digits. tax id numbers are only 9.. so if I havent convinced you already.. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN THERE! read more
