Next I ordered one of their house beers and it was much better. For dinner, my wife and I had one of their schnitzels and it was just ok. Our waitress was really rushing us and she spilled a half glass our beer on one of our coats. The only thing good about this evening was the atmosphere. We loved the cellar.

I expected more for the price. The service was very attentive, but almost to a fault. Every couple minutes we were interrupted. All the tables were occupied and we felt very observed, aware that everyone in the tiny room could hear our every word. It was uncomfortable. Our evening ended on a particularly sour note when we asked for the check and handed over our gift certificate. A few minutes later, we were smugly informed that the gift certificate -- which we received during COVID and did not include an expiration date -- had expired and the restaurant refused to accept it. Ugh. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Schlumachers.
