I grew up watching Fort Hays State basketball games at Gross Memorial Coliseum…read more I remember Raymond Lee, Mike Miller, Mark Willey, Dennis Edwards, Steven McKelvey, Alonzo Goldston, Bill Morse and Gary Garner. I also remember celebrating NAIA championships in 1984 and 1985 and then a NCAA Division II championship in 1996. The Coliseum is also home to the women's basketball team, who won an NAIA championship 1991. The volleyball team plays here, too. There's other events, which include high school state basketball and wrestling tournaments, Kansas Special Olympics, graduations and concerts. The University has done a good job over the years investing and upgrading the venue.  It's updated the court, replaced the lower level seating with chair back seats and added a modern scoreboard with a videoboard. Concessions, while not overly abundant, are available and easy to access. Restrooms are also easy to find and kept clean. Parking is available in a lot to the north of the venue. It can back up a bit for a big game, but otherwise it's easy to enter and exit.

You can grab a beverage and a snack and hang out with all of your friends while your kids play schoolyard football games in the background. Fall Saturdays don't get much better than this.

We attended Fort Hays State University Homecoming 2025 Football Game here. The new field turf is…read moreless than a year old and it looks great. We were told that the remodel of the field was pretty fresh, within the past year. The lights are very bright so no matter where you sit, there is plenty of light and the view of the field is great. Also, there is a large and turf green area at the end of the field where attendees can gather and watch the game. It's a great socializing area. They have concessions under the seating sections in a tunnel like area of the stadium. The FHSU Bookstore had a booth near the concessions stand and they sold Homecoming shirts, very cool. Concessions have the classic food offerings: boxed popcorn, candy, nachos, fountain drinks, gatorade, hot dogs, etc. The students staff the concessions and also a couple of supervising adults. The front of the stadium has a tailgate area with grass. For Homecoming there were a large amount of tailgate tents setup. Plenty of people made for a great fam experience. The scoreboard is great and very bright. Overall, this is a good college stadium for games and events. Our experience was good.

This place is one of the worst experiences I have ever had as an online student. They only have…read morelimited classes for what is needed. Their advisors are a joke that send out blanket emails that help no one. Their special education department will not make any exceptions to adding you to a class even though special ed is all about helping people. Instead of helping they ask you to take another class even when you let them know that without this class you will lose your job. THEY DO NOT CARE.

Stayed here for several weeks over the summer, while working on a project. I roomed with 3 other…read moregirls from other universities and I couldn't wait to switch rooms- as the girls were loud, walls paper thin, and beds like sleeping on a bale of hay (and sharing bathrooms with said girls). That being said, it was close access to music venues, parks, and restaurants nearby. Some of the architecture was also very nice, but it was hard getting from one side of campus to another (and especially without a key). There's a beautiful picnic area on the back side of campus, where I spent many a days eating dinner with a family of raccoons. I also enjoyed the rainy days at Starbucks (and, even getting featured in the FHSU Viewbook drinking said Starbucks. Go Tigers!), the empty dining halls during the summer, and the SW chicken wrap (something spicy like salsa, chicken, beans, corn, cheese, lettuce, tomato) from Mondo's Quick Subs. As a self-proclaimed Hippie and a Wanna-Be Child of the 60's...this is heaven! Psychedelics or not,…read morethis is a gooood time! The music, the art, the sun, the grass, the nudity, the liberated peoples!!! Last year (2009) was the celebration for the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock. Oh my word! I shouted along with Country Joe McDonald as he performed "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die," his infamous Woodstock sing-along song. I abandoned my belongings on the grass near the main stage to explore the festival and returned to see my items untouched. I hung out in a tent staring at the rapid-pace fingers of performers from India playing string instruments I don't know the name to. I crawled through several hippie buses and talked to the inhabitants of the buses and the artists that make them pretty. I was given a personal demonstration of a vehicle powered solely by walnut shells. I watched a band play for hours while festival goers volunteered to pedal the stationary bikes that produce the energy for the show. I didn't go anywhere near the vendors since there were so many scattered artists throughout the field. I don't know what else more I can say. I was in heaven!!!
