Listen, I didn't think I'd be a "frequent flyer" at the LAPD Olympic Division, but someone has been stealing water from my swimming pool like a communal watering hole, and I had to report the hydration heist. I headed in specifically hoping to see Officer Spencer (who is already a total smoke show), but he wasn't on the clock. I thought, "Darn, my day can't get any more lackluster." I was wrong. Enter Officer Cabral. Is the City of Los Angeles exclusively recruiting from the runways of Milan? Does the police academy have a mandatory "smolder" exam? I walked in to report a crime and ended up witnessing a miracle. "Tall, dark, and handsome" doesn't even cover it, this man looks like he was sculpted out of marble by Michelangelo himself and then gifted a badge. I walked in to discuss water levels and walked out wondering if I should check my pulse. If the LAPD's strategy for lowering crime is to simply stun citizens into silence with sheer aesthetic perfection, it is working. If you're going to have your property stolen, do yourself a favor and get it handled here. 10/10, would get my water siphoned again just to file the paperwork. Note to the Chief: Whatever you are paying the recruiter for the LAPD, double it. They have an "eye" for talent. read more

In my experience, Olympic Community Police Station has become deeply compromised under the command of Captain Rachel Rodriguez. I believe she uses not only citizens, but her own staff to obtain self-serving goals. Since she became captain, I have observed a pattern of conduct that I believe reflects bad faith, self-protection, retaliation, and a troubling lack of meaningful accountability. I have reported her and Chief Jim McDonnell to the West Bureau. I filed complaints concerning officers at this station, including Detective Carlos De La Rosa. Instead of creating a process that appeared independent, Captain Rodriguez orchestrated a meeting in which the very detective I had complained about was seated next to me, while City Attorney Claudia Martin was seated on my other side who spoke about my cases in a dismissive and devaluing manner. She even laughed in a mocking manner which is highly concerning for any attorney let alone a City Attorney. I was also not told that the detective I complained about or the City Attorney were going to be in the meeting. Additionally, I was also placed under significant pressure to sign documents after that meeting despite making clear that I did not want to sign. I believe the way that meeting was structured was coercive and designed to protect officers and the station rather than properly address my complaint. I have also experienced serious concerns with how police reports were handled. One matter involved approximately nine months of evidence. A sergeant confirmed to me that the conduct warranted a report, yet the matter sat for roughly two months without being filed, and I repeatedly had to pursue answers myself. In my view, that is not a minor administrative issue. It reflects a serious failure in basic police responsibility and accountability. Detective Chi confirmed that Captain Rachel Rodriguez had confirmed not filing the report was acceptable. He later filed it after I went to the station. More recently, I received a disposition letter from Chief Jim McDonnell regarding my complaint. The letter was extremely vague. It did not clearly identify which officer or officers had actually been investigated, did not meaningfully address several of the facts I had raised, and then directed me back to Sergeant Carlos De La Rosa - the same officer whose conduct I had complained about. I find that astonishing. A complainant being referred back to the subject of her own complaint is exactly the kind of circular, bureaucratic process that causes people to lose confidence in internal police accountability. I also find it highly telling that, during Captain Rodriguez's command, officers and supervisors I personally found professional, responsible, and genuinely concerned about citizens have left the station quickly, while officers who have been the subject of complaints have been promoted. One lieutenant whom I believe she used to obtain my signature has left the station after working there for many years. The same sergeant whom I regarded as outstanding and conscientious who instructed his officers to file the report with nine month of evidence - and later that same report was stopped by Detective Chi and Captain Rodriguez - left shortly after she became captain as well. I believe that pattern is highly telling. In my experience, this station has repeatedly relied on internal procedures that protect the institution while leaving the citizen to chase answers, challenge vague responses, and repeatedly document conduct that should have been addressed the first time. I have cited specific laws, LAPD policies, complaint procedures, and civil-rights concerns in my correspondence, yet I continue to receive responses that avoid the substance of what I reported. I believe Captain Rodriguez has misuses her authority and has fostered a culture in which serious complaints are minimized, redirected, or handled in ways that protect the station itself. I also believe some of the conduct I have experienced has been retaliatory after I filed complaints against her and other personnel. People should understand how this station handles complaints before assuming that filing one will result in an independent or meaningful review. My experience has been the opposite: a circular system in which the same people connected to the complaint remain involved in the process, accountability is difficult to identify, and the complainant is expected to keep pushing simply to get direct answers. This is bureaucracy at its best. As long as Captain Rachel Rodriguez remains in command, I personally have no confidence in the integrity of Olympic Station's internal accountability process. In my experience, the station has become a place where protecting the institution appears to take priority over protecting the public. read more

I live in Koreatown, and after multiple break-in attempts, I discovered a rape kit outside my building. Two break-ins were successful--once while I was home, and another when my neighbor was. Both incidents happened around 4 AM. The intruder was Hispanic, with a buzzcut, wearing a handkerchief over his face, a T-shirt, jeans, and Converse shoes. The person before me left a dummy camera, which the intruder covered. The police did not take pictures and seemed indifferent. I found disturbing items in the kit: shampoo, clean clothes, zip ties, an X-Acto knife, and tape--all suggesting a planned attack. My landlord said I could get a gun, but for now, I've installed alarms, cameras, and plan to defend myself if necessary. Sadly, I know the police won't take this seriously, even if something worse happens. read more

Came here to put in a police report for a hit and run that happened on my parked car! The place it happened at got security footage of it. It's been MONTHS! I haven't heard jack. The officer who helped me was pretty straight forward and protocol-following. Standard for what you would expect out of law enforcement? The place was clean and there was free parking and no line. So I guess that's a plus. He hinted and kind of told me that I was SOL with stuff like this. Great! What was the point of me putting in a police report? I'm not sure. You would think they could blow up the license plate and track the horrible woman down by using the DMV right? Guess not? I'm not even allowed to get the security footage from the place it happened at itself. I'm so irate whenever I look at my car and that crap dent I got on it because of the idiot who hit my car. Barely had my car for months and now it's just ugly AF. I can't believe nor do I want to know how many people get away with being bad humans. It's ok, I'm sure karma will come around someday. I get pissed every time I walk out to my brand new car that now looks like a sack of $h... because of this dumb lady who decided to try to squeeze into a parking spot. I hope whoever hit my car enjoys the fact that they ruined my brand new car. I hope I hear back from the LAPD. But all I hear are Crickets. read more

Officer C Argueta was incredibly rude. We waited for 2 hours with the criminal inside McDonald's. Once they got there she screamed at me that there is nothing they can do since the criminal stole my green card on a different day. Even though we had footage of the criminal being inside our building intruding again on the same day. Very disappointed with the lack of understanding and misconduct in this case. The police report will do nothing for me to get a replacement. Detectives don't pick up the phone. There's no way to get a hold of anyone in that station. We have footage of the person who is a regular in our building and the McDonald's nearby and police is saying there's nothing we can do to arrest him. read more

This police station is a mess. From the lack of competent staffing, there was only one officer with at least 5 ppl waiting and he didn't speak Spanish, in an area that is predominantly Spanish speaking, to the bathrooms that were gross. I'm honestly disappointed with my 3 recent experiences with this station. I reported my stolen bike and told them the thief was selling my bike on a classifieds website and secondly, my mail was being stolen out of my mail. The first time I called, I reported my bike and told them that it was on a website being sold by the thief. I even got the thief's phone number by pretending to be a potential buyer, so I gave that to the officer who I finally got a hold of after calling several different numbers and waiting on hold for over an hour. The cop who I talked to kept making up reasons why they couldn't do anything about my bike. I've had that bike for year, rode it very often and it's a $5K bike. I told the officer how much the bike meant to me, but he didn't seem like he cared. Second time, I called about mail and identity theft and I called several times and left a message. They call back once a few days later. I missed the call and so I called back and ask that the assigned detective call me back. Well, I never got a call back. So then, I called back and they gave me a website where I can file a police report. I file a report and nobody ever responded. Third time, I called to make a complaint about noise violation. I think it was some homeless people outside my apartment. They were yelling and playing music loud at like 3AM. Well, they continued to do what they were doing for a few more hours, since the cops never came. What I learned is, it's a waste of time dealing with them. Each time I called, I sat there waiting for over an hour just to talk to somebody. You call and nobody picks up or it hangs you up. Then when it goes through, you talk to the desk officer, then he gives you another number to call depending on your case, so you call that number and nobody picks up. You literally have to dedicate over an hour just to talk to them. Then when you do talk to them, they show no interest in your case. Again, very disappointed. read more

I recently had my car broken into so they told me to come in. No one is ever in this station, and they have different community meetings in a meeting room in the lobby. Thank you for the unforgettable LA welcome you gave my friend. 30 minutes after I picked her up at LAX, her and I were facedown on Santa Monica Blvd with about 20 officers surrounding us with guns and a helicopter shining on us. Her and I (2 white 30-year-olds from New Hampshire) were mistaken for a Latino man and woman in a different make and color car who committed a crime in the area. I told her not to make any sudden moves when we were ordered to place our hands out the windows of my car before we had to get down on the ground at 3 am.... y'know, based on current events. She was pretty close to shitting her pants at that point. :) When I asked what it was all about, I received NO answers for about 30 minutes. This was after having my wallet taken from my pocket and being placed in the back of a police car with my hands cuffed behind my back. :) That's where I watched them search my car from and perform a background check on me after demanding my SSN and my current employer, etc. :) After a witness of the crime eventually came by, and confirmed we weren't the suspects; again, different race, appearance, vehicle, etc., they were very LOL and "thanks/sorry 'bout that!" I LOVED when one of the officers shouted out "TICKET!" after noticing I still had a dealer plate on the front of my car. I'm *pretty* sure the nightmares have stopped, and I'm driving at night again without craving a Xanax. Thanks again, guys. It felt like I was in one of those big Hollywood productions, but funded by my taxes. :) read more

The officer who was really cool. He gave a good advice me.. to quote him " It's legal already go get it"

Extremely disappointed with my experience last night. I called out LAPD to help me with a neighbor dispute. A female became irate, threatening, and reckless over an ongoing parking dispute. She threatened to bring her boyfriend so he and my fiancée could, I guess, go head to head over this nonsense of an issue. I felt threatened and scared. I turned to LAPD but was devastated at their lack of support. 2 officers who now I refer to as "thugs with a badge" because they weren't kind enough to give me their names , came out to interview me first then spoke to the poor excuse of a mother (she was acting "ghetto" while her two children were in the back of the car!!). I overheard her lying to them and making ME look like the assailant so I come out and asked if I can be present during their interview because I deemed it unfair for her to lie about me. Of course they told me to go back inside my apt, which I did. I left the door open to my apt expecting them to come back and talk to me more after their conversation with that woman. Nope, they left. Didn't give me their business card or anything. Just flat out left , without giving me some guidance or referral as to how I should handle this threatening situation. I drove to Olympic station where I spoke to Sgt Powers who did nothing but defend his "boys" saying they didn't need to go back to speak to me, they didn't need to give me a business card, it's not standard procedure, then became frustrated with me and said "what do you want me to do?!" If not standard procedure, isn't it common courtesy? Can these guys at LEAST act like they care? I know she can't be arrested for verbally insulting me but can you give me some kind of guidance before it turns into physical violence? I feel alone in this situation. Very disappointed in their lack of sympathy for their citizens. What's even more funny, they had a stand in their office that asked visitors to rate their service. It's all a joke. If you're not being beat, shot, or stabbed they don't care. I'm sorry to talk about PD this way because I've always defended them for the hard work they do but my experience crushed all of that. Now I can understand why people dislike police officers. read more

So anyways I called & complained & the officer tells me %95 of the officers don't live in LA (So! but they work out here & I would expect them to do their job) So that is the excuse he gives me.. Word to the wise don't count on the police they aren't worried about anyone unless a news camera is there or it counts toward their paycheck . It's people like OFFICER RODRIGUESthat give police officers a bad name. We had recently had our storage locker broken into. We were told to file a report. When we arrived at the station, we were treated quite rudely by OFFICER RODRIGUES. Once he found out there was a detective on the case, rather than helping us fill out a report, he couldn't dismiss us fast enough. OFFICER RODRIGUES needs to remember that he is there to serve the community. As inconvenient as it may be, that is his job. It is people like OFFICER RODRIGUES why the Public never supports the police. When the detective finally called us, it turns out we do need typo file a separate report. OFFICER RODRIGUES shouldn't have been in such a hurry to get home to trim his pornstache. The stigma that police officers are nothing but punk kids that are over compensating for whatever crappy lives they lived, had been quite reinforced by OFFICER RODRIGUES. read more

We had a terrible experience with this police department! One morning 7 officers from this station unexpectedly showed up at my house and demanded to search it. I asked to see the warrant, and they told me they didn't need one. I was a pre-law major who worked at a criminal defense law office and for the attorney general's office. I know the law- they needed a warrant. I have nothing to hide, but at the same time I don't want them going through my home with no reason (and there was no legit reason). When they told me they were going to search the home without a warrant and without my consent I told them that I wanted to call their superior. They refused and said they'd arrest me and take my children if I didn't let them enter. I told them I wanted to call my attorney and they said no. When I knocked on the neighbor's door to get a witness, I was told that I was not allowed to leave my porch and that I needed to return immediately. They kept me and my children in our pjs on the porch while they went through our stuff without our permission. Much, much more happened, and throughout the process it only got worse. We now have Internal Affairs and the FBI investigating. I'm a law abiding citizen who respects those who serve our communities, but these guys really need to get it together. read more

My car was broken into end of February and I was so reluctant to go to the Olympic station due to their very bad reviews. I am a very passionate person and a huge believer in doing what is right, so I decided to go and give it a try. I had to go to the Olympic station mainly because my place falls within their jurisdiction. I did have to wait over an hour to get to speak with an officer, but from that point on I was shocked at their amazing costumer service. My building's security camera recovered the while burglary and I was able to bring all the evidence with me. Within 2 days I had a very nice officer come to my place to take fingerprints from car, then on the same week I had 3 investigators stop at my place to collect the surveillance recording and within a month, the criminal was arrested. I was so happy when I received a call fro the Olympic officer politely letting me know the criminal had been arrested. Thumbs up to these officers that worked so hard to provide not only an amazing costumer service, but also kept their word. Keep up the good work guys - It made a huge difference! This is the most horrible experience I have ever had with police officers. For a couple of years, my neighbors would always have some kind of party every weekend. having a party is fine but when they are being so noisy at 4 AM all the time, that's when it becomes a problem!! They do this every weekend and everyone in my apartment complex is so sick of it. I understand that you want to party at times but there's no need to blast your music so loudly that the apartment starts vibrating and shaking. We all got so sick and tired of it that we all gathered, 5 people in total, and called the police to get their help. They showed no effort in helping us at all. And we even went to the station personally to complain about the noise and how long it has been going on. It's been going on for 2 years! And this happens every weekend! Like cmon officers! That's insane! What do i see when we walk into the station? We see a Korean officer that's trying to ignore us by making fake phone calls because he doesnt want to talk to us while the other officer is just staring at us as if we all had two heads. They said that they would send help and we waited for 6 hours. No one showed up at all and we called them almost every hour to get an update on when they would be coming. So useless. Why are we even paying taxes anyway? Our taxes goes straight to the police when they dont try to help us. All they care is about giving people tickets and crime. They dont care about people like us. Someone needs to get severely injured just for them to come over. Its so messed up that its not even funny. I call them every weekend hoping that they will come and help us but I am left disappointed every single weekend. read more
