Love this place! Some of the freshest, best tasting Thai food I have had in a nice, family owned restaurant in Carpinteria. Better than places in NYC and downtown LA. Good size portions, great prices for the quality of food, and great service. Tonight was Prik King Beef and Laos style Khao Soi..but every dish has been 10/10 each visit.

Great lunch special! Got the pineapple curry lunch special with chicken and soup. Also ordered pad see ew with beef. Pineapple curry was very tasty. Nice amount of spice to it and the sauce wasn't too runny or thick! I would have preferred more vegetables, but was overall a pretty good balance of meat and veggies. It was nice that the lunch special came with rice. Their pad see ew was really good! I loved the noodles, they seemed really fresh. Loved the broccoli and carrots that were mixed in. Great flavor overall. The lunch special also came with a fried wonton and soup. I liked the sweetness to the soup. Nice spacious restaurant with a big parking lot. Workers here are also very nice!

Stopped in for lunch and was blown away! I ordered the Pad Thai, which came with the most delicious coconut soup I've ever had, perfectly cooked rice, and a refreshing Thai iced tea. Every bite was full of flavor and felt fresh. My friend got the chicken and basil dish, which looked (and smelled) amazing. The portions were generous, and the whole meal was only around $24 -- totally worth it. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and authentic flavors. Can't wait to come back soon!

My family enjoyed a late night meal here, and had a great experience. Staff members were very friendly and helpful with gauging how much food we should order for the table. The food was great too. We had fried rice, pad Thai, and fried potstickers. There was a bathroom inside for customers. Overall the inside was clean too. I would definitely recommend coming here for some good Thai food!

The food here is delicious, so glad we have this amazing Thai food in Carp. Their pad see ew is my favorite noodle dish and their yellow chicken curry is my next favorite. Their apps are great too... spring rolls and chicken satay are my fave. Great service, clean restaurant, fresh tasting always.

Cruising out of Los Angeles on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, my good cronies and I decided to stop in Carpinteria as traffic picked up. Lao Thai is located in a small strip mall plaza right off highway one and had their door propped wide open despite the inclement weather. . We all love Thai food and wanted something warm and hearty to combat the cold outside, but also filling. We were greeted by a young woman with long black hair and seated immediately at an adjusted table for five and then given menus. The place is miniature and intimate, but there was only one other table present when we got there. Soon after, we placed our drink order and the place was bustling with people. I treat Thai food the same way I treat my tea lattes, if I like it, I'll order it anywhere. My staple with Thai cuisine has been Green Curry so I got that with shrimp and a pot of Jasmine Tea. Two of my friends got the Drunken Noodles, one regular and one spicy and the other ordered Pad Thai. . Everyone cleaned their plate except for me. Despite not having the tummy space to eat all of my food, the green curry was piping with a cup of steamed jasmine rice. The sauce had a slight spiciness to it which I loved, because it feels really cleansing combined with the warmth of the dish. For all four (4) dishes and two cups of tea, our grand total was $86, so approximately ~$21.5 pre tip. One can never go wrong with decently priced Thai food. Thank you for reading and breaking bread with me.

Amazing tasty Thai food, perfectly spiced, large portions and nice mix of chicken and vegetables. Rice on the side. Friendly service and no wait! We will be back.

The noodle dishes here are great. Order online for pickup makes it a nice quick lunch spot.

A side note: real silverware and plates/bowls are offered only if you dine inside the restaurant's premises. Since we opted to sit in the general area, our orders were prepared as a to-go set. After browsing through their menu, we chose the following dishes: Beef Pho: The broth was quite savory, tangy, and a tad sweet. The thin rice noodles were slightly soft. The filet mignon slices were tender, and the beef balls had good texture. The sauce and bean sprots were given on the side. Bangkok Street Noodle: The broth was flavorful, spicy, and quite tangy. The thin noodles had a balanced firmness. There was a nice blend of sliced BBQ pork, minced meat, meatballs, and fried wontons, then garnished with chili, cilantro and green onion on top. Shrimp Summer Roll: The rice paper wrap had a pleasant chewy texture. The ingredients were super fresh and satisfyingly crunchy. The tanginess of the mango and cucumber went well with slightly sweet hoisin style sauce. The mint provided a quite refreshing taste and aroma to the rolls. A beautiful fusion of colorful visual presentation and exquisite taste. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal. Highly recommended.

When I was a student here, I often frequented Mom Wong's or Tortillas and they're still here which is incredible. Mom Wong's is very student-friendly prices as well. Each dish pictured here was about $10-12 and the portions are huge! Seriously, if I was still a student here I'd be going here every week because I'd have enough food for three days. Now for the quality of the food... each dish was great. The chow mein, which included chicken and shrimp, was awesome. Seasoned nicely and not too greasy. The orange chicken, which looked and tasted a bit more like sweet and sour chicken (not mad about that!), was also very good and retained its crispiness. The fried rice, which is what my wife ordered, was good, kinda soy sauce heavy but it had a nice flavor overall. (Tbh idk why but I've never been a huge fan of fried rice).

Inside the restaurant, the ambiance is casual. I ordered the Juicy pork dumpling($10.99 ) and Milk tea with boba ($4.49). The dumplings were very juicy and a little sweet. That would be nice if they had some ginger slices and black vinegar for the dumplings. About boba tea, it's good. I prefer the tea to be stronger. Boba tea was warm, which means it's fresh, but needed more ice. They always serve in to-go containers. This place is good for friends, couples, and families. Parking is in front of the restaurant.

Personal preference but, I believe it is a crime to not have brisket when serving pho. The only options left were dry, tougher cuts that felt very mediocre. Regarding the broth, it was overwhelmingly bland. It was extremely clear and had minimal fat. Again personal preference but, it seems they had extracted all of the fat after simmering the beef and that left the broth so lackluster. We also got the Thai tea and my girlfriend thought it was delicious. Regarding the ambiance, I think Noodle City tries their best making use of their limited space. However, it wasn't very clean: the spoons were a bit dirty, it seemed like the floor isn't cleaned often, and the utensil/condiment holder on our table was a mess with the chopsticks about to fall off the table. As for the service, they had plenty on their hands tonight as a ~12 top came in shortly after us and they a line out the door until right before we left. They checked in multiple times, however, we did have to mention our thai tea was forgotten and got it AFTER our pho came out. It also seemed like there was an altercation with a male server and the party of 12: orders were confused and he yelled "well figure it out". Overall, I've been to Noodle City for ~3 years and I think they have GREAT rice dishes. However, their pho is pretty mediocre, service is often fast but not friendly, and prices are always CHEAP.
