Known as "The World's Smallest Cafe," I was first attracted to this tiny wood building that used to…read morebe a bakery by seeing fresh pancake batter cooking through an open window, and smelling welcome wafts of sweetness in the air as my excursion group walked along the Soragada to the Museet i Maelandsgarden, which was just around the corner. Following my self-tour of the museum, I hustled here with Diane to quaff some liquid refreshments and sample some sweet treats before we had to return to the tour bus. These included a no-sugar-added chocolate confection, and of course a Scandinavian pancake. We luckily scored one of the three tables inside.
The sole proprietor on the premises, who served as host, server, and cook, was very amiable, and I was happy to bring her some business. For, soon after we sat down, several others--both from our group and unaffiliated tourists--followed the scent and lined up to place food orders.
I have now become an enthusiastic fan of Dutch and Scandinavian pancakes, and don't know where to go to satisfy this new craving. I hope I can find some relief locally without having to cross oceans to do so.
XXXX-1/2 stars overall for this jewel of a cafe!
