Sweet little garden center. Friendly staff, great selection for a small garden center and very quaint.

Waldor Orchids - These huge claim shells are amazing and would be a wonderful centerpiece!

In my previous review I complained about shipping costs that were outrageous, and I got a response…read morefrom the owner assuring me that the excess costs are refunded. I put in another order and confirmed that they did indeed refund most of the shipping, putting the value back to being actually very good. I just wish that they state that they do this somewhere on the site because I was literally including and excluding plants based on the quoted shipping. I guess every nursery has its quirks. One thing I figured out about this one is that the 2.5" pot plants are rather small, typical for being in the 2" range, but their 3.5" pot plants and beyond are huge and a great value. So to be sure, Waldor's is a great vendor that sells some unique breeding every year. Part of their stock may come from wholesalers like Orchid Eros or AWZ from Brazil, since I've seen a similar selection. For example, Orchid Eros had the C. warscewiczii alba 'Gabe's 10th' x 'Cantadora' for $25 when they had it in stock, where Waldor's is selling it for $50. But for those that appreciate the genetics and missed out on the original offering, perhaps this is where they must purchase it. For others, they have a number of Cattleya species and hybrids at larger pot sizes at more reasonable value. With the shipping issue solved, I can recommend it wholeheartedly again. I have always written reviews to provide information for the consumers. I've never been "bought out" by a business (and thus have never been to those Yelp Elite events), but seek to present real information -- the good and the bad. But some snobby AOS judges will always stand for the vendors who's plants they judge over the everyday consumer. I've had several encounters with people who claim 30 years of experience, and then disparage any criticism of their circle of business contacts, revealing a lack of professionalism. Maybe they should add an "ethics" component to those AOS judging courses. My reviews may not sound generous, but they're useful and fair. I have no qualms comparing nurseries and the value they provide. I will praise Waldor's for their virus policy. They gave me a full refund for a virused plant that tested positive, including its part of the shipping charge of an overall order, no questions asked. That's a level of service I can appreciate. As for claiming they uniquely test for viruses, that other vendors don't or that all their plants are virus free, fellas trust your heart and you'll know who is the shill and who isn't.

I have ordered mulch three years now from Distinctive Lawns. They delivered 5 yards for $150,…read moreprofessional, on time, exactly what I wanted. I put a tarp down, the mulch was perfectly dumped onto it. I would definitely recommend and use again.

Used these guys last year's to deliver mulch. They advertise a great deal and they sweeten it even…read moremore if you order 10 or more yards so I figure hell yeah I'll give these guys a shot. Big mistake. I call them on a Friday for the mulch at around 3pm to see for a weekend delivey. You would of though I was ordering on Christmas eve. A grown man crying acting like he was doing me a favor. After saying it was no big deal if he couldn't of made it, he insisted on doing right now before he closed up for the day. Thinking this guy was doing a nice deed I gave him the address and thanked him figured I'd hook him up with a big tip. I ordered ten yards and 30 minutes later I see this 5 yard rack body truck coming down the street not even filled. Already I'm thinking here we go two trips for this delivery. This big burly guy gets out pissed to all hell, I guess because I live in a nice neigborhood and I'm holding him up from his weekend enjoyments. First thing I says is, what do you have two trucks coming. What are you talking about you have over 10 yards in here he says. I go how do you put ten yards in a 5 yard body. He tells me this isn't his first rodeo. I should have told him to pack it up but it probably would of turned into a knock-down-drag-out. Everyone the reason you get a deal for 10 yard deliveries is because you don't get 10 yards delivered big surprise right. Every summer I worked as a landscaper/gardener while in college so I know exactly what 5, 10, and 20 yards looks like. I says to myself it been 5 years since you have been in the industry maybe your not as sharp and the supplier is right. Well I know i needed 10 yards because I measured out my beds. Sure enough it was 4 yards short. This long story summed up. The more you order the less the amount of what you ordered you will receive. The owners presume you the homeowner have know idea what the quantities look like. For large orders place them with the county MUA they will cost a little more but they will give you way more than you order. As my wife always says, "the cheap guy always pays twice." It's true.
