My family…read morestayed at the Saddle Creek Townhome (4 bed/4 bath) Although the condo is cozy and accommodates a descent amount of people, that's about all there is to it! When our family arrived, we baked a pizza and cooked hamburger meet on the stove. Shortly after, we started smelling something AWFUL. It was so bad that we decided to give management a call and head into town for a bit, hoping that it passes. We get a call back from management saying, in their own words, "There is a MAJOR gas leak, it was so bad that the tech who came in with the detector has never seen it this bad." Of course, we immediately start worrying. What would have happened if we didn't call and continued cooking all weekend, did we save our lives, did we save their condo? Needless to say, it made for a nightmare of a night. The management offered to move us to a 2 bedroom condo, knowing that we had 7 guests to accommodate. Since that wouldn't work, our family and the management agreed on getting 75% back of the price of our stay. Unfortunately, we had to go buy an electric skillet and microwave our entire thanksgiving meal ---- Now that we are home, management is accusing us of using the oven, saying they "have" to believe we turned the gas back on because of the food they found in the oven. Keep in mind, every door to that type of equipment is fully locked, and why in our right minds would we risk something like that? With this accusation, they are now refusing to refund us the agreed upon amount. On top of all this mess, they suddenly just sent us a charge of $70 for a tech having to come out "after hours!!!" If you decide to book through Christie Resorts, be sure you know all the hidden charges they may try to charge you with. According to Courtney, she let me know that my family should feel free to call her at anytime if something were to go wrong, forgetting to mention that we will be charged if a tech needs to come out. While the condo looks nice and cozy, be careful with the management! We've stayed in Steamboat before through other management companies and never had a problem. Michael with Retreatia is one awesome company to look into. BE CAREFUL with Christie Resorts!

I enjoyed the fact that there is no cell or internet reception here. The only thing that lost this place a couple stars is that the cabin had a slight infestation of mice which came out to play at night other than that my stay would have been great. My suggestion to the owners spend the money and hire experts to rodent proof your cabins so that people like me will return and pay a premium for your cabins. At first I was weary because my husband said there was no internet or air conditioning but the accommodations were perfect! Once we arrived we were greeted by the town Mayor who is also the owner- very friendly guy who made us feel welcomed. The Gold camp cabin had a small kitchen, wood burning heater (which I can't wait to come back in the winter and crank that baby up), one queen sized bed and two bunk beds. Perfect place to unplug and unwind. The showers and bathroom are in a separate building not too far from the cabin and they were very tidy. The location was awesome, nestled at the foot of Hanh's Peak and once you arrive there's a cute little general store stocked with snacks, drinks and various Knick knacks, there's quite a few cabins scattered across the property and you can actually rent out the whole property for your own little private party lol. I slept with the windows cracked and the weather was perfect- no need for air conditioning. Inside the cabin they had a little journal on the kitchen table that past guests wrote in. They wrote about their experience there and even short stories- kinda a cool little touch. The cabins are old and rustic- very historical. They even had pictures on the wall from way back in the days when the miners and trappers stayed there. Left me wondering how the owner acquired the property. This is definitely the spot to unplug and unwind!

I still remember the phrase "Champagne Powder" from back in the day, and the light, dry snow and beautiful aspen tree skiing lived up to the billing. I was young and pretty clueless about the broader ski world when I first visited, but with many more years and places since, I appreciate even more how welcoming, unpretentious, and genuinely Western Steamboat felt. I've been fortunate to visit in both winter and summer, and the town is remarkably special in either season. Winter brings the skiing, while some of my favorite summer memories are tubing down the Yampa River and going to the rodeo, experiences that make Steamboat feel like much more than a ski resort. It has been a long time since my last visit, and the mountain has clearly evolved considerably since then. Still, the combination of spectacular terrain, Western heritage, and an unusually warm sense of place is what has stayed with me. Highly recommended.

Bought a deal through an online offer and wish I had saved my money. When you call to schedle a tour you are calling a cell number. rarely answered and you might get a call back. We were told to expect a call the night before our trip to go over all details, like where to meet the shuttle, etc. We never got the call and had to place multiple calls the morning of our tour to find out what to do and where to go. Once we finally drove all the way out to the ranch for our half day tour with lunch, we discovered that lunch was actually a chili dinner, would have been great to know before we showed up having not eatend and with a vegetarian. When they split up the group into two tours they never bothered to ask if there were any first time riders...would have been a great question to ask so the people who drove up from Denver and have riden before wouldn't get stuck witha couple from Georgia who were afraid to go over 10MPH. During the tour three of the five machines were breaking down and running out of gas...the owner said it was due to the "warm weather" Bull! The machines were not maintained as they should have been, it actually looked like they bought all their machines used because none of them matched - different brands. models, etc. (even the shuttle van was a plain white van without anything indicating Elkhorn). The owner had to come out to our group twice to bring mroe fuel for the same machine! Neve thought about brining up a better one to use instead. After fours hours of being on our tour we had spent more time sitting on the trail than we did moving - and never once were we offered an apology for our experience. If I had not purchased this as a discounted deal through another vendor we would have demanded our money back. Save your time and your money and stay away from this place...we have had great experiences snowmobiling in Steamboat but this was the first and last time we will ever patron Elkhorn. In fact they have turned us off the guided tours entirely now.
