An employee saw our confusion and explained that the outdoor area is open as well as the other inside area. One area had table service and the other you have to order at the counter. Which was which was not clear to us but we sat outside. They take your beer order at the table directly and you pay when it comes. I got the classic beer and it smelled like flowers! The beer server explained that we had to order inside and that there would be live music later and it would be LOUD. She emphasized loud. That's usually how live music works. We ordered inside and slowly figured out that when the order is ready, you pick it up outside. They even have a digital number display to indicate when your order is ready. By the end of the experience, we figured it out. The pizza was just fine but the beer was better. They also have flammkuchen and a few traditional dishes.

This traditional Bavarian restaurant is located along a footpath by the Rhine so I highly recommend going for a walk either before dining in order to work up an appetite (and while there is still light) or afterwards to aid in digestion. With the beautiful homes lining the path and the many ships gliding by, you won't regret it! The entire menu looks great but we were there for one thing and one thing only: the roast goose with dumplings and blaukraut (red cabbage). (Check out my tip - this is a special offered only for the holiday season). This is a traditional family dish that we have had every year and I dare say this was better than the one prepared by my father-in-law. The goose was juicy and delectable and the skin was crispy and full of flavor. The brown gravy that was served for the table went perfectly with the dumplings and the blaukraut. There is a bread basket full of Bavarian pretzels and German breads served with delicious garlic quark (yogurt like) waiting for you at the table but don't fill up with this, the plates are substantial. This will definitely be on our list of restaurants to frequent whenever we are in Bonn.
