We understand that sometimes cockroaches get in, but I expected an exterminator or at least a bug treatment of some kind. This hotel is in a nice location near the pedestrian zone and the people at the front desk are very nice, but ignoring cockroaches is a problem for me.

Don't plan to spend an evening there. Breakfast is good - lots of choice and good quality. Rooms are quiet and comfortable - but not luxurious. Free wifi is a nice treat. There is a taxi stand immediately across from the front door so you never need to wait for a taxi. I stay here two or three times a year. The location is tops. The rooms are fine and the staff is polite and attentive.

It took a while to find my room-- it is an indirect route from the reception area. But the room is pretty cool and there is an amazing view of the Rhine River. The grounds are very lovely with large old trees and wild parrots that live here. The beds are very comfy and all is well EXCEPT the wifi is extraordinarily slow. And there are no Do Not Disturb signs-- housekeeping is aggressive and you will want to lock your door. Other than that this place is A-OK.

Plus, it's a little on the swanky side, which is cool. We were on the penthouse level with great views, a wonderful room, and nice upgrades. I especially liked the electronic blinds mounted on the outside of the windows which helped block both the sunlight and the street noise. The breakfast, which was included, was by far one of the nicest we experienced in our two week Euro-trip. An abundance of quality and assortments for different tastes abound for all. The air conditioning is a great asset for the few month it is needed. The room is completely sound isolated from the street. Parking is not included, but parking in the public garage gets you use of the public transport system. Staff was friendly and helpful with tourist sights and directions. I will stay here again if I'm ever in Mainz again.

The elevators are a bit slow, but this hotel dates back to the early 30's so no problem. Ann and I stayed there with the European Castle tour there. Highly recommended.

The KD river cruise line is just 20' from their feont door so that is super convenient. Train station just 500 m away. Within 100 m of several bars, bakeries, gift shops, and grocery store. Has an awesome indoor pool with jets so you can swim in one place. Also has jets to massage your legs and a fountain to massage your back. Sauna is fantastic. Steam bath present too. One of the best Beat Westerns that I have been to. And I have been to a lot.
