I would still make the almost 3 hour trip from coastal SC to Lexington if needed. Dr. Macauley is absolutely wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and delivers state-of-the-art care. During our time in Columbia we spent weekends at our primary residence in coastal SC and had to take the pups at varying times to a 24 -hour veterinary center when they became ill. Every single time, Dr. Macauley called us to follow up! She even called us last year when our dear Bailey had to have a splenectomy for an enlarging tumor which was very suspicious for a malignancy and we had already moved away! Dr. Macauley followed up with us and comforted us as the we awaited the final pathology. Our heartache turned to joy when Bailey did well post-op and then pathology report showed no malignancy. She called us and rejoiced with us. Her clinic was always willing to work us in when needed. We so miss the wonderful care she provided to our dear pups and, if needed, will travel back to Lexington in the future. I am a physician myself and very particular about the care our pets receive. They've taken good care of my cats time and again. The bad: the doctor who owned Millcreek seems to have sold it to some corporation or private equity firm. The focus has shifted from care to profits, so their prices have skyrocketed in the past year. You'll still get good care here, but it comes at a high cost now. You may find cheaper vets providing the same quality care.

They used a pet gurney to comfortably get her out the car. They put us in a private room where we could say goodbye to her. It was so much nicer than we expected. The room is not pictured as we weren't thinking about anything but our sweet girl. They partnered with Faithful Companions to conduct the cremation. Today, we picked up our pups remains and just lost it. Faithful companions not only cremated our pup as we requested, they collected a paw print and a locket of her fur. Just so thoughtful. I recently adopted another fur baby and Dr Griffin and her staff have gone out of their way to answer questions and provide care. I don't think I could trust another Veterinarian in Columbia, especially since most are corporate and require extra fees, testing that isn't needed, and staff that seem to come and go. If you are looking for a Vet in the area I'm sure they wouldn't mind you stopping in and checking them out. They are always welcoming and helpful.

I am writing this review now because I went to my new vet(Cat Clinic) the other day and had a wonderful, easy, affordable experience, and it made me write this review. First issue is the never ending "required tests" stool tests, bloodwork, and other things. They make you do them or at least made me every single time I came in regardless of the issue. This of course ran the bill up every single time to around $600-$700 dollars. Second issue was Dr. Griffins attitude. She couldn't be more abrasive if she tried and I always tried to be nice but I always got the feeling she seemed to feel like she was wasting her time talking to me. She was condescending and definitely didn't respect or care about my time. The final straw was when she said she tried to have me bring in another stool sample only two weeks after a prior visit just to get anxiety meds. It's literally 30% a scam to earn extra money. Lastly for example the Cat Clinic for a yearly check up was only $250 with two vaccines, Flea Meds for 2 cats, and anxiety meds. Which is the primary reason for writing this as I do feel I have been overcharged by Griffin for years. The Cat Clinic has never asked for a stool sample and they ask if I'd like to bloodwork which they don't recommend unless there's a concern. Goodluck with Griffin Animal Hospital if you don't believe me.

LATE POST! Where do I even begin?! I arrived here by…read morereference because of my emergency situation with my fur baby Suffering from bladder stones. I started out to seek help for him from 12pm. Our first animal hospital we visited wasn't so great ( I'm not going to mention any names ), and I really thought I was going to lose my baby there. Being it was a Sunday and on Labor day weekend, there were not a lot of places to seek help. I brought Haiku here in hopes that they would be able to help him and I am so glad that I did!!! From the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed. The gentleman working at the counter was very patient, kind, and compassionate. He helped and explained everything thoroughly so I understood the process. They worked quickly and got working on Haiku right away. The lobby area is kept very clean and organized. They have complimentary snacks and refreshments. There are also rocking chairs outside if you need to take a breather which is what I needed to do a few times. I really appreciated how they were understanding and empathetic about my budget and helped me to get signed up for care credit. They allowed me to spend time with Haiku for a bit before they started testing and treatment. I was so relieved when I seen he had life back in his eyes and I knew this is where he needed to be to get better. Dr. Allison Kelly, Madison, and the entire crew working here at SCVSEC is absolutely amazing!!! I started my day full of tears and ended it with a big smile and a heart full of hope!
