Every step of our service with them was great. Very nice, yet very professional. They know what they're doing. Excellent in understanding our needs, attention to detail, keeping their word and they leave your yard looking great. It was amazing to watch them work separately and together. If I could give him zero stars I would. I hired this so called tree service to remove a branch from a neighbors tree which was hanging over my property and fence (with permission of the neighbor, of course). He's definitely the cheapest around, but there's a reason for that. #1: He did not write up an official quoted contract. This should have been a red flag right at the start. He wasn't willing to make it legally binding that he would be doing this work for us. #2: He showed up late for the job... by HOURS. #3: His crew used profanity constantly during the job, loud enough to be heard by my neighbors over the sound of the wood chipper. I understand these guys are a little rough, but we live in a nice neighborhood.. c'mon. #4: I came home at 4:30pm to a job not completed, but with no crew and no boss to be found. No phone call. No email. No text. No note. Apparently, the chipper broke and he had to take it to Springfield to get fixed. Fine, but instead of calling me to tell me what was going on, he communicated nothing with me. I didn't hear back from him for another 2 hours to get the explanation of what had happened. #5: The half-completed job left piles of branches in the yard which were there for WEEKS. Michael wasn't willing to even haul the branches away until his chipper was fixed. Plus, he left the boards and a trailer in my yard for 4 days. When I called to tell him to clean up the mess, he said they'd be over the next day, but it took 4 days for them to come back. I ended up paying another company that was doing work for my other neighbor to get rid of the branches in my yard that had been there for at least 4 weeks. #6: His mom works the office lines. She tried apologizing for him - poor woman probably has to do that constantly. #7: His crew isn't regular - he gets the cheapest guys that'll work. #8: Of the literally 20+ times we called or texted him, we rarely got answers or responses and definitely not within a timely manner. We had to start calling from other phone numbers to get a hold of him because he wouldn't answer our calls. #9: He broke the cap off of one of my fence posts and never replaced it. They are busy and so very backed up, it took a while for them to get out there but they did. I found they had also put a pile of brush I had through the chipper and cut off a couple limbs I had not noticed were getting over to my roof and they did not charge me for it. the price was a fraction of what the other place I called costed. I also found them very friendly and personable. read more

I have used Lakeside Tree Service a couple of times, best prices in town and they take the time to explain what needs to be done, how to save trees if possible and point out any future problems. Good company to do business with. read more

The only tree service we will call is Lakeside. They do the job and do it well. Their charge is competitive and quite reasonable.

Warning, Warning. I would not consider doing business with this outfit based on my recent experience. I called this business on Tuesday 5/31/16 to set up an appointment for an estimate for tree trimming & removal. I indicated that I would be available at 11 AM the next day. The person I spoke with, Michael, said fine, he would call me at 11. By 11:45 on Wednesday I had not heard from him so I called to find out what was going on. My call was returned at 4:30. There was no apology for not calling me as he said he would. Michael simply asked if I could meet him in 30 minutes so he could put an estimate together. I explained to him I wasn't available and asked if we could set something up in the early afternoon on Thursday or Friday. He indicated that he usually did quotes at 4 or later. I said fine & asked if we could meet at 4 PM on Friday (6/3). He agreed to that time. I arrived at the residence at 3:55 and waited. At 4:23 I called Michael. When he answered I told him who I was and mentioned we had a 4 PM meeting scheduled. All he said was yes, so I reminded him it was nearly 4:30. Michael went on to say that he was doing a quote & sometimes it took longer than planned. Never did he apologize. He only went on to say that he could probably get there by around 5 PM. At that point I said it would have been nice if he would have called me earlier to let me know he was running late. His response was, "I tell you what, call someone else" and he hung up. I never raised my voice or used profanity in dealing with this guy, but he only impressed me as a rude, unorganized person. He must own the business, because no self-respecting business would employ someone of this caliber if they had the choice. Needless to say, if his work is anything like his business acumen, I probably dodged a bullet by not having him do the work. Oh yeah, to Michael, I had prviously contacted 2 other organization who had already provided me with acceptable quotes. The were both prompt, professional, & courteous, attributes that you, Michael, clearly are lacking. Oh yeah, you get a one star rating only because the site won't allow zero stars.s read more

SHOCKINGLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Despite a polite and professional crew removing a tree at one of my properties, the owner put on an amateurish show, racing around in his Bobcat, tearing up lawn, flower bed and clothesline and dumping debris onto a neighboring property. Nevertheless, the price being acceptable, I decided to give LTS another chance. I called the owner about another property several miles North of the previous one. He told me that he didn't go North of Mahomet, IL. I assured him that the property was nowhere near that far away. He agreed to come out over the weekend, but never showed. I called Tuesday, to set up another appointment but as soon as I mentioned the town the line went dead. I re-dialed, got his voicemail and left a message. When I did not get a return call by Friday, I called again. I mentioned the town and this time there was no mistaking it: without a word he HUNG UP ON ME! In a personal conversation, hanging up on someone is the acme of rudeness; in business it is unconscionable, showing utter disdain for the customer. My wife and I have worked in customer service and neither of us has ever hung up on a customer, even if given cause. Certainly we would never hang up on a polite RETURN customer. I recommend that, if LTS is the only service you have left to call, you simply cut the tree yourself. read more
