Not my cup of tea Church. If your new to the area and looking for a church to call home this isn't…read morethe place. Unless you're conformed to religion. Being new to this church, your first expression should always matter.. right? I was expecting most church-goers & staff of the church to be very friendly when my sister and I first walked in. Wrong.. everyone seemed to talk amongst themselves & to the people they only knew. The ushers of the church were there to do one job and that was to seat people. To think about it, I only really saw one usher helping people. My sister and I sat ourselves. Everyone else was still trying to find a seat to rest their butts especially when the service had already began. It was annoying having multiple groups walk in front of my view, because the church had limited amounts of seats. You would think this is a non denominational church... again wrong. The pastor Dusty Thompson kept referring to the crowd as Christians & if you're not one it was problematic. As if this is a church of Christianity. He kept repeating, this is a method for Christians and if you're not a Christian pray that God would help you convert. WTH? Pastor Dusty Thompson, as a monotone teacher would do. He read his from the Bible word from word. He didn't even attempt to put it in his own words, tell a story, or put motivation in it. It was very humid, stale, boring, and unstimulating to bear. Myself and the guy sitting right next to me found ourselves in a bore state almost falling asleep in service. As like the Catholics do, here at Redeemer communion is done very similar. Instead of everyone drinking from the cup; everyone instead dips their bread into that one cup of wine.. germs spread this way! And you wonder why Lubbock is the #1 in nation for STD.. stop the spread of germs! I find that extremely unsanitary. With that being said think about germs from each individual who attends. Disgusting! No matter where you are if it's blessed or not germs don't care who you are. After that first time attending and experiencing that awful service, my sister and I decided to listen from our home to our pastor Joel O. on a podcast, because pastor Dusty is confused on what he wants to preach about.

Anywho, after a friend of mines recommended this church to me, I figured why not get back into church hopping? As I pulled into the crowded parking lot, I had thoughts in my mind telling me, "oh, this is gonna be good." Upon walking in, the bad news began. First, neither my sister and I wasn't greeted. The people holding the door were too busy gossiping amongst themselves. This first impression is bad due to my sister and I being visitors to a new church. It was 10:00 am and the second service was just beginning. Even the patrons in the church seemed to themselves and weren't friendly. Then, I wish I would have known that this church was a bible based. Meaning the pastor would be reading directly from the passage in his monotone voice. He would read and then tell the congregation about what he thought. Everything based off of opinions. Also, it was said that this church is non-denominational, so I didn't expect the pastor to CONTINUOUSLY use the word CHRISTIANS. Constantly, calling his followers Christians. Towards the end, the preacher almost made it seem as if you were non-Christian, not even agnostic or an atheist, but a non-religious person something was wickedly wrong with you and that others were to pray for you. I was nearly disturbed by these incidents that I left early and didn't even bother with communion. I'm glad I did skip out because apparently I don't favor in dipping my holy bread into the same wine cup as everyone in the church. That is how you spread disease. This church may be for some, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

To see 2 young men, my age in fact, come one step closer to their goal of joining the priesthood is inspirational to say the least. May God bless their next year as they get ordained priests in June!!!
