When I came in for my appointment I was told my insurance had been verified. Had a normal cleaning (shoutout to the hygenist who was great) and 2 minute "exam" by the dentist. Paid $35 for a flouride treatment "because it's not covered by my insurance". sometime later I received a bill in the mail for $430. Called to find out what was wrong. I was originally Dr Panahi's patient, but I've had nothing but good experiences with the new team over the past few years. They are all highly skilled, friendly, professional and, best of all, empathetic. Dr Dodson is a perfectionist - definitely the Michelangelo of the porcelain crown - and all my injections have been painless, which is a huge bonus. Dr Panahi evidently sold his practice to Kirpal Toor in July or August 2022. When I arrived for a cleaning in Oct / Nov 2022, there was no dental hygienist available to complete the job. Following a rather simplistic office visit which was cursory at best (with Dr Toor substituting for the hygienist), I called to complain. Dr Panihi returned my call and stated "there would / will be no charge". Subsequently, I learned that Dr Toor submitted a charge in excess of $300 which went against my insurance. After changing to a new dentist, I requested upon multiple occasions to have my records forwarded to a new dentist that had been recommended, however, nothing transpired for several weeks. Called subsequently and suggested a complaint would be filed with the Texas Dental Board, and, finally, they were forthcoming. Suggest you avoid Lake Travis Dentistry as the "new guy" seems to in it only for the money. read more

Wow: it is so refreshing to be able to write a positive reveiw about such an incredible experience. Who says going to the dentist is an incredible experience. This office will tell you, I am a dentist's worst nightmare. After two appointments and a very comprehensive examination and cleaning, I knew they would tell me what I didn't want to hear. An extraction and and implant needed, plus a filling. Today, it all took place in one session. It was a very traumatic day for me, and I fear little. These folks were incredible from start to to finish. 2 hours later it was all done and I felt like I was treated like royalty. The doctor is so personable and accommodates you and your individual needs. The best is, now at home, 6 hours later, and I have zero pain, no meds and zero bleeding. These guys are both highly experienced, professional and personable. I cannot recommend this team more than what I have already stated.. The office environment looking over the hill country, is so inviting too. read more

I moved to Austin in 2013 and it took me a while to find a dentist. I went to Dr. Panahi and my search has been long over. I've been going to this office for 4 years now. I have had several procedures including a crown and fillings and I know I am in the highest level of care. The entire staff is on point for every visit. From the dental hygienist to the front desk, they are more than just courteous, they are engaging and remember you. They work with my insurance directly and the best part, they assist with the planning of any procedure both financially and logistically. It is your schedule, your timing. They tell you upfront what's out-of-pocket and what your insurance will cover. There have never been any hidden costs. They are also impressive when it comes to their knowledge and experience working with the insurance companies. I do not have to deal with any of the difficult administration. If you are looking for a dentist in the NW of Austin, I cannot recommend Dr. Panahi and the Lake Travis Family Dentistry enough. It IS as good as it gets! read more

What a wonderful experience I had at my first appointment with Dr Josh Dodson at Lake Travis Family & Cosmetic Dentistry! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The front desk staff was very upbeat and friendly. They made me feel at ease from the moment I walked in. Dr.Dodson was equally friendly and very professional. He took time to explain my dental health and what to watch for in the future. I could tell he was sincerely interested in my dental care and needs. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. He did not rush thru my exam. My husband also saw Dr Dodson. During the dental examination, Dr. Dodson caught a medical issue that he felt my husband needed to follow up with our primary caregiver. My husband did follow up with our PCP & the tests revealed he has a condition that will require medication for the rest of his life! My husband runs marathons; looking at him you would think he was in excellent health. We had no idea there was something underlying going on. Thank you Dr Dodson for such thorough dental care! While they were all very friendly, it seemed as though they were not transparent with pricing. It seemed to be more about how much money they could make rather than what was best for the patient. My husband went there for a routine cleaning and was told he needed a deep clean with a laser that would cost $250 and could not be billed to insurance. He scheduled this- turns out that could not have been further from the truth. it was $250 PER QUADRANT of the mouth so... $1000 and they did, in fact, bill to insurance- this one deep clean has exhausted ALL OF OUR DENTAL INSURANCE FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR and we still need a root canal and a crown that will now be paid out of pocket. Again- when scheduling this deep clean we were told the flat price of $250. When called to ask, they gave him the runaround of how they try to make it as affordable for patients, etc. Well, clearly not. We are so disappointed in their service. We strongly advise against coming here. read more

My family and I have been patients there for years and have always recommended them to all our friends and family, but they are no longer the same group we had grown to love. I was called at 5 pm the night before I was supposed to have my implant post put in and told that they would not be doing the procedure. They told me that Dr David is on a long vacation and the doctor that is there won't do it. They also told me they do not know when Dr David will be back so I get the impression that this may be a permanent change. This is so disappointing and unprofessional. I have been waiting so long to get this procedure done and been through so much with it that this was just devastating. My family and I will be searching for a new practice that cares for their patients and doesn't leave them high and dry like this. I guess I should also explain that what makes it so bad is that I just went there recently to have an evaluation done as well as my cleaning. If I had known that they weren't going to do the work I would have saved my money and gotten that done somewhere else that would be willing to do the service. Additionally, I already requested the day off work so now I'm out even more! Once again, truly unprofessional and disappointing. read more

Highly recommend this dentist! I just moved here and I haven't had a cleaning since the fall of last year. They scheduled me within 2 weeks and they stagger patients so that you don't come into contact with anyone else. So great job scheduling! The staff were friendly, the assistant and technician knowledgeable and skilled in their professions, and the Dr. didn't upsell anything. I was never asked if I wanted my teeth bleached, veneers, etc... I liked that they asked you on a patient form if you wanted additional information on any elective treatments/procedures and so I got exactly what I came for and never was pressured into anything else. I've been seeing Dr Panahi for 5 years now and he is one of the most kind, companionate and gentle Dentists I have ever been to. He is also very honest, telling you what you don't need as far as certain procedures, and saving you so much money. His staff are exceptional as well and so very friendly. He has moved to a new location up by the Aquarius Dog kennel and training and has a two story building that feels more like a home than a Dentist office. Upstairs there is a 'suite' with a beautiful view! He takes care of my special needs daughter and was so incredibly gentle with her when she needed fillings. He administering the Novocain shots and she barley flinched. My daughter tried repeatedly to get up and leave and he granted her all the time she needed to get comfortable. I'm from lakeway and found Dr.P a couple years ago and since have moved into town but happily travel back out to LT simply because I know I'm always taken care of here. Routine cleanings are as enjoyable as I suppose they can be.. Never feel rushed and always have adequate doc time post cleaning unlike other practices I've been to. This place is fantastic! I would recommend it to anyone! I hadn't been to the dentist in close to 7 years. The last dentist visit that I remember I had a whole lot of fillings! To be honest, I was nervous! Mainly about the long expected list of all the things that were wrong with my mouth! My wisdom teeth had been bothering me for quite some time so I began to do a little research online and came across Lake Travis Dentistry. After seeing all the great reviews I decided to schedule an appointment for a teeth cleaning and exam. The day of my appointment I am immediately greeted by Audrey (the girl I had talked to when scheduling my exam). She was just as friendly and helpful as she was on the phone. I signed a few papers, she had me sit in the waiting room for no more than 5 minutes and the hygienist took me back to get started! Also, I don't really know how important this is...but I really liked that they didn't have a big glass window you would awkwardly have to stand in front of hoping someone notices that you are there. I hate those things. Awkwarddddd... Everything is very clean, organized and up to date. All their equipment looks brand new and in every room there is a decently sized flat screen television on a retractable arm so you can watch while you get any work done. The reclining chairs are also pretty comfortable. The hygienist was very kind and gentle. She was very cautious to make sure that I felt comfortable the whole time. I feel like a lot of times when people work hands-on like that they can at times forget that they are actually working on a person. So, I appreciate the fact she didn't forget about me! Haha! THE EXAM...dun, dun, dun...Dr. Panahi was very friendly and thorough with the exam. He went over my x-rays and suggested I'd get 3 of my wisdom teeth removed and four of my fillings would be replaced. A few weeks later, I came in for the first half of procedures I needed to get done (1 wisdom tooth extraction and 2 fillings). Both him and his assistant made sure to keep me as comfortable as possible through out the procedures. One thing that I really appreciated was the fact that he made sure to explain what he was going to do and why. I did not have many questions for him in the end because he had already answered all of them! The following month(today) I got 2 more fillings and 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled and I got the same great service I did last time, not to mention, they actually remembered who I was. They have a very nice and personable staff. And...HELLO! The work looks great and all of my extractions are healing up nicely. So, if you are looking for a knowledgeable, clean and friendly dentist office...THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! My anticipated "horrible experience" was the complete opposite of what I was expecting! Lake Travis Dentistry provided the best dental experience I've ever had. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Dr. Panahi was patient, informative and very gentle. I have a mouth full of troubled teeth and sensitive gums, and Dr. Panahi and his assistant made sure I had no pain at all during my exam and cleaning (a first!). I have to say that watching even lame daytime TV during an exam eased my anxiety and was a very nice touch. To top it off, the dental assistant kindly answered all my questions about gum recession, bacteria, flossing, etc., which is more info than I've ever gained from dental visits in the past. My son is now going here and had a great experience as well (he loved watching cartoons during his cleaning, of course). The receptionist welcomed him and made him feel at ease, and his exam and cleaning were quick and painless. I went to Lake Travis Dentristy after a bad experience with another dentist in SW Austin; since I have Delta Dental insurance, that was a consideration, as I wanted to select an in-network provider. My issue with the other dentist was not with him but with his hygienist who was rude and obnoxious, and oblivious to my requests to elevate my head (due to acid reflux), even when I started choking in the middle of the cleaning. Most of my dental needs right now are regularly scheduled cleanings, so having a personable and supportive hygienist is a top priority. Megan and Michelle at Lake Travis Dentistry have been wonderful. They had no issues elevating my head and only wanted to know what elevation worked best for me. They are considerate, accommodating, and respectful, and I hope they stay there, since I have no desire to ever go elsewhere. read more
