The wording is to ambiguous on rule 2. We booked multiple tee times and had a 7some. The rules make you think that it is wrong to have more than 5 in one tee time. What is the point of booking multiple tee times with your friends if you can't even play together. Other courses I played this is not an issue if you book multiple tee times and had enough people to make it make sense. read more

About halfway between Oklahoma City and Dallas, Lake Murray hosts a number of great amenities. The state park has a lodge as well, making this a great weekend stay and play getaway. The small town of Ardmore, Oklahoma lies just to the north and Winstar Casino lies just to the south. Lots to do in this part of the world including some delicious ham sandwiches touted by Robertson's Sandwich shop off of I-35. The layout here makes great use of the land and the lack of bunkers makes it an especially easy track for beginners. We caught several glimpses of wildlife and moments of serenity abound while making our way around this track. The greens here are in great shape for the price you pay making this course a great deal with good conditions for all levels. Course is in great shape. Fairways are lush and the greens are fast. Nice clubhouse, pro shop. Beverages and food available. The only issue was that the 16th hole portrayed on the scorecard is drawn wrong. The scorecard exhibits a soft dogleg right. It is the opposite, a dogleg left. Budget friendly! My husband and I stopped here on a Friday morning and were pleasantly surprised to find such a fun, well-maintained golf course inside Lake Murray State Park. The women's tees are positioned really well--I was able to get my first par five on the back nine of this course (I'm a new golfer). The course is serene and beautiful and even has a natural waterfall. I found the course to be easy enough for me as a beginner but still challenging and fun for my husband, who is an experienced and fairly skilled golfer. On the day we golfed, they were mowing and doing maintenance but the staff was so friendly and would stop and let us play through the holes they were working on. I also appreciated that there were porta-potties strategically placed around the course so that we could, um, stay hydrated and not have to race back to the clubhouse. My only complaints are: 1) The holes are not all clearly marked, so there was some confusion about which way to go at times; 2) The clubhouse has limited food and nothing freshly made. You can buy beverages--you are not allowed to bring in your own--and they had some gas-station-type premade sandwiches, lots of candy and chips, and that was about it. Another group had brought in Subway sandwiches to eat at the turn; if I'd known about the lack of food, we would have done the same. All in all, though, it was a wonderful experience and we really enjoyed this course. We would definitely golf here again. read more

When I was a kid, most golf courses didn't allow kids. Fast forward five years - give or take a few decades - and our family found an affordable, well-managed and maintained course with an awesome staff (and by awesome, I mean happy, friendly, helpful people who truly love the game). Lake Murray GC is devoid of pretentious players, prohibitive rates and policies that pull the plug on any fun, yet it still feels exclusive. I've seen planes from as far away as Tulsa, but don't let the airport fool you. This course is a public asset to those who are passionate about the game, newcomers who want to learn, those of us returning to the sport and most importantly, those who are the next generation of golfers. That said, the family and I are stoked to call Lake Murray GC our home course. read more

Great, fun little course! Smaller greens, so your pitching needs to be on. Ladies tee boxes are positioned so that you have ample opportunity for not just pars, but birdies and eagles. Folks running the clubhouse are incredibly nice - Tip: be on the lookout for Groupon specials (can't beat 18 holes for 2 w/ cart and range balls for $38). read more
