I too feel one star reviews are unfair. The Upper Valley Mend volunteers and workers offer so much…read moremore than just used clothes and household items. The pantry's fresh produce offered to families as part of their program, is often times better than what Safeway is offering. I purchased a bread machine at a much lower price than Goodwill, and six years later still working. They only accept clean, undamaged clothing & items. Not everybody has the same experience, but as a local I have only had good interactions with all the people at the Community Cupboard & Upper Valley Mend.

This joint is weak! I was told to go here by another store…read morein the Bavarian village, so thought it was worth checking out. They get one star for it being a community kitchen, but it's retracted because they don't take cards. So, they're back to zero. They are WAY over priced for a thrift shop, ESP being a thrift shop that caters to those needing a community kitchen/ thrift store ... (For poor folks 4-9$$ on a pair of jeans is a rip off. I should know, having been near homelessness (when I was young and single) in the past. Spending that much on pants means missing a meal.) They carry certain styles of clothes from the 80's and 90's that no one wore. Ever. Even during that era. And here they're in abundance. Jeez. While here I noticed a woman shopping with her kids, I advised her to check out the goodwill outlet in Seattle where items are sold by the pound. She seemed only able to afford a few items at the costs they were asking, the mother was grateful for the information I shared. Monthly/ a few annual trips to said goodwill outlet in Seattle should be tried, so lower income families can be allowed more selection at a much better cost and they keep their integrity not having to wear 20 year old rejected wears. That would be a good use of community funds. Such a waste of time. Steer clear.
