Once we arrived we quickly found out that the image from the poster was nothing like what was before our eyes. We later found out that the image we had seen was of the Sanctuary of Mount Lussari (outside of town). Tarvisio itself was dead and consisted of one road and nothing else. We went to the Tourist information Office and were recommended to go to Laghi Fusine (Fusine Lakes). We saw pictures of it and and were sold at once so off we went to the bus stop to get the bus. We arrived at the end of the line and driver told us that we had arrived but we couldn't see any lakes in the vicinity; the driver told us to prepare ourselves for a lovely long walk up a mountain...great! It was freezing cold, in fact I had two pairs of jeans on and God knows how many layers up top. We walked and walked and walked and saw no trace of any lakes or water. To say that we were not impressed would be an understatement but then we started to hear gushing water and became more hopeful! After a few more meters we hit paradise. The view was breathtaking: snowy peaked mountains reflected in the glistening water of the lake. Unfortunately, we only got to see the first lake as when we were going to venture to the other lake behind, we noticed that the weather had taken a turn for the worse and it was starting to snow! We did not want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with no one in sight and no shelter or provisions! I'll be back for sure!

Lake Misurina Paddleboats. What can I say.... It's…read moresurrounded by gorgeous mountains and the water is beautiful and glassy. It's a clean and clear lake and you can see the moss and fish below you. Four of us were able to take a paddleboat out and 45 minutes was plenty of time to see the entire little lake. We took turns paddling, and everyone had a great time. It only cost about 8euros total and was totally worth the memories that we made. The staff was very friendly and helped you on and off the boat if needed.

Benches lined the perimeter to catch your breath, and take in the view. Popular spot for photography. Alpine Splendor!

I came during winter so the lake was frozen over and I couldn't see the picturesque boats on the…read morewater reflecting the background. Still, the scenery was amazing as ice creates a different type of beauty. There was this ice wall with a frozen waterfall that you could slide down, just have to be careful walking up. Whatever season you're in the Dolomites, you should definitely make your way here. If you could choose what season to visit, do come in the summer, but whatever the time is, you will not be disappointed!

We hiked the perimeter of this beautiful lake outside Dobbiaco. We also had a great Alpine Meal at…read morea restaurant located on it's shore. No swimmers.... just a few boats out on the lake, I am sure a wetsuit would be required if you wanted to go in! We drove, but there was a bus from downtown Dobbiaco. Hiking, walking, promenading... many generations were enjoying the stunning scenery.
