This course is located above Conlig Village off the A21 between Bangor & Newtownards. Conlig is just two miles from Bangor. Before the dual carriageway was laid, the main road used to run through the village street, but visitor traffic is now largely limited to golfers en route to the two 18 hole championship courses of Clandeboye Golf Club. The course itself is quite tough and the couple of times I have played it I have really struggled so its maybe not for the complete novice. Its one of the more expensive courses for visitors, coming in at at least £25 which is a little steep.

Set up high over the Bangor carriageway there are lovely views of Belfast Lough from the club house. They run a loyalty card scheme so members can eat for slightly cheaper than the non-members. The food is really, really tasty and so well priced. I had lasagna and chips which came with a small salad. Others had the steak sandwich with looked amazing - a large roll filled with onions, steak and pepper sauce - gorgeous. The chips are fat and homemade - really good. There is a bit of an 'old boys together' buzz about the clubhouse and of the men are just in off the course chatting loudly about who got the wee ball in the wee hole and who didn't. The booze is reasonably and they stock a full bar. I have only one complaint - if you order a coffee after dinner make sure you ask for an americano as we didn't and received instant coffee - we had to send it back - not really what you would expect from a luxurious clubhouse. All in all an excellent meal with lovely views and a nice pint of cider.

Basically I didn't like the 18 hole due to the layout and lack of trees (sound stupid) also it's very open and the wind affects the ball loads! We played the whole course unnoticed but ran for our lives when we heard the words "boys" being yelled from the clubhouse direction! Fortunately I have been back in more recent times in more legitimate circumstances! This is a fairly standard local gold course, with nothing really that special going for it. The fairways and greens are well kept which is good, but the fairways are sometimes very narrow and unless you know the course it is sometimes difficult to know where to go. On the plus side a round here is as cheap as it gets in the world of golf! My best advice for people driving by is to watch their cars, as a bad shank on the very first tee could result in your car getting its windscreen swiftly smashed!

Recently updated and using the latest laser technology, the Ozone has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. I remember being about ten and being really excited about going to a party here, only to discover that the backpacks weighed an absolute ton and I wasn't going to have as much fun as I initially thought. These days, the packs are much lighter, much more compact and generally easier to use. The last time I was at the Ozone was about a year ago, and there was a quite a big group of us (fifteen or so). We spilt into two teams (you can play this way or individually), girls vs boys, and had a rundown of the game by one of the staff. After this, we selected our packs, which light up either green, blue or red (red and green it was for this game, in order to identify your team members and avoid shooting them), and has a cartoon / superhero / character name which will be used to record your score at the end. It's pretty funny when the most masculine guy in your group gets Barbie. The game lasts half and hour, and the labyrinth comprises of different levels and hiding places. The aim is to shoot your opponents on the back, front, shoulder or gun (the last option is really easier said than done), without getting shot yourself. The stats all appear at the end of the game, so you can see how your shooting was, and how many times you were shot. It's always amusing to see what place everyone came in, and there are definitely a lot of laughs at this stage. At £4.60 per person per game, it's not a bad price for birthday parties / youth events / general banter. Oooh, when can I go again?

My favorite activities of these is the climbing wall. I never knew how much fun and addictive climbing walls could be. A great way to spend an afternoon and is decently priced. The ropes and harness's are provided free of charge. If you don't fancy going so high there are smaller walls with huge safety crash mats were you can learn the ropes!!! (excuse the pun). Another great activity to do here is the laser quest, for young and old I can't think of a funnier thing to do for a birthday or something. Absolutely fantastic.

The pirate theme works well with various features kicking in as you move round. Water gets sprayed about and pirates talk to you which kids love. There are two courses to play which are both different and each of them have their own signature holes. The last hole of each courses give you the opportunity to win a free round by skilfully hitting the ball into a centre hole. All in all a good way to spend an hour in the sunshine. I would recommend this across the board whether taking to kids, for a date or even with a group of friends there is sure to be some craic.
