prices on 8/29/2022: turkish breakfast (84TL) and sade menemen (40TL) and yogurt (17TL)

5 stars for the cream and honey. It's the best of the best I had during our trip to Turkey (from Istanbul to mid and southeast Turkey). 4.2 stars for the menemen. It's very creamy and delish. One of the best in Turkey as well. Maybe I had very high expectations for menemen before visiting Turkey because it's a famous dish. I was not very thrilled about menemen in general. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Istanbul. Just the cream and honey alone are worth the visit. They don't have fancy presentations(with honeycomb and everything) like what you will get in a hipster spot or 5-star restaurant. But it's way too good. I still crave the cream after I am back in the states. I would totally visit this place again if I were in Istanbul. Tips: No need to get the full breakfast. Just order the cream and honey dish alone, with an additional menemen dish if you like, to save some money.

Okay, walked up to this spot today because I had to see what the hype is about regarding Menemen. A friend I met who works in the restaurant recommended this spot. It's one of his favorite place. After walking for 20 minutes looking for this place, I was excited. Ordered the traditional Menemen with Turkish sausage. It's basically having pepperoni on tomato stew with egg. It also had some peppers. I wasn't too fond of it. It might of gone well with rice pilaf for me. But, it's served with bread. The Menemen was very bland. This place is simple. Good service and friendly staff. I'll come back to try this other chicken dish that someone recommended to me. A gentleman who assisted in translating my orders and request of Orange Juice. They were kind enough to get me fresh squeezed Orange juice from their neighboring business. I'm just glad I tried it.

This is a great local spot for breakfast food, in my opinion. They open pretty early, which helped since I was heavily jet lagged on my first day touring Istanbul. They serve a really genuine and authentic Turkish breakfast at good prices. I ordered two bowls of menemen and kaymak with honey, both of which were extremely satisfying to have early in the morning for breakfast. While this place is known for their menemen (for good reason), I would highly recommend the kaymak -- it was good, I went back the next two days for more, and have plans to come back here if I ever end up in Istanbul. I could not recommend this place for a Turkish breakfast enough.

I was sent here by a Turkish friend and found it delicious. I had a menemen with sausage and also a plate of yogurt or cheese with honey. Though both were wonderful, I scarcely needed the honey plate--the menemen alone was that filling. All meals are accompanied with as much bread as you can eat from the kitchen. I happily ate my entire tray of bread, loading up each slice with piping hot egg-and-sausage-y goodness from the bowl of menemen. I treated the honey plate as dessert, which was good since it really was that sweet. The yogurt or cheese base on it was texturally similar to ricotta or quark. This place doesn't look fancy, but boy, they sure can cook.

Great Authentic Turkish breakfast that you wouldn't expect to be here because of the location that hyped with tourists. However, if you're staying in the Taksim area, you should come here for a breakfast. Moreover, They're known for the "Menimim" which is tomatoes and eggs. they also have other stuff like sujuk with eggs which is Turkish sausage and eggs. One negative thing about this place is the service is somewhat slow and if you're not a Turkish speaker, they might ignore you and that is very unfortunate. However, if you make it here, I recommend the Menimim and Kaymak with Honey

Menemen with Turkish sausage. Yumm!!

The best Menemen we had in Istanbul, especially the one with Turkish sausage added in. Wow, savory!

Came to Lades Menemen after seeing Mark Wiens eating here! And we were so disappointed! The eggs were so bland, so tasteless. We order the cheese menemen and couldn't even see or taste the cheese. We also ordered the Turkish sausage menemen and the taste and flavor only came from the sausage. Bread wasn't good either.

Found this gem of a place on Happy Cow after spending a few days in Istanbul. Turkey is a pretty…read moremeat heavy culture, but you can seek out some good veggies places. This is one of them. It is a little hole in the wall place, but they serve up a traditional flavorful dish a bit like seitan basically. You can get it in a wrap and if you are staying somewhere can take a box home for fairly cheap. Also be sure to check out nearby Parsifal. This is a simple sit down affordable place that is 100 percent vegetarian and has many vegan options. The menu labels what is vegetarian and what is vegan making ordering easy.

I have been going to Zencefil for years but last time I was there was about 4-5 years ago. The restaurants has been keeping its style, quality for many years. Even the menu looks like the same except for a few new dishes depending on the season. There are several kinds of vegetable quiches such as eggplant, spinach, etc. The nice think is that before the meal they serve butter mixed with herbs accompanied with bread. There were two kinds of bread; with corn flour and whole wheat. However, the bread could be better, I didn't like the whole wheat bread. I can make batter breads and I am wondering why they do not make their own bread adding different kinds of herbs and vegetables. Although it is a vegetarian restaurant, there one or two chicken dishes on the menu. Since there wasn't so much change on the menu for years, I have already tried most dishes which were OK. I mean the tastes are nice, not heavenly but you know that all of them are healthy. This time I had warm served Aegean stew made of artichokes, faba beans and black-eyed beans. It was so light and tasty, I really like it. I had homemade ginger ale for a drink but frankly saying I didn't like it maybe because I am used to Canadian dry or other brands. But I recommend its lemonade with ginger. I hope they add more experimental vegetable recipes on the menu next time. At the end of the meal they always serve coriander and some dry herb to refreshen the breath which I really like. Lastly, the ambiance is nice, bright, colorful and the place is mostly full of young people and tourists during lunch hours. The service is not bad but I wish they smile more...

We walked here from Sultanahmet which took around 40 min and our walk ended with a climb that involved steep hills and stairs. That being said, the climb was so worth it!! This restaurant is located in a very quiet and quaint area of tho city, feels very European, full of several cafes with outdoor seating and cobblestone streets. The restaurant itself had seating indoors and outdoors, had minimalistic decor and really drew its charm from the surrounding areas. It gave a very "neighborhoody" spot feel. The hostess and waitress was very nice and got our orders almost immediately. My parents each ordered on of the menemens (mushroom and sujuk) along with an avocado salad and French toast. They both really liked the food. I split with my fiancé the Gourmet Turkish breakfast or Kahvalti. The Kahvaltı blew my mind away- wonderful spread of cheeses, dips, jams, honey, and fresh produce. Some highlights for me included the delicious thyme olive salad, the eggplant dip, and the ezme, these dips were full of vibrant flavors and were just so bold (I find that the dips we had at other places were not as tasty, these were hands down the best and had the most superior quality). For the sweet dips, I loved everything! Notably the kaymak, or clotted cream, with honey was the star! Also the "milk jam" or süt reçeli which was like a milder dulce de leche with subtle vanilla flavor.... I want to buy a whole jar-- luckily for me they actually sell them at this place and I'm very likely going to return to buy one. The breakfast also came with abundant plain bread as well as some pieces of lahmacun which has tomato and spices. The abundance and high quality of all the ingredients really made the gourmet portion of this live up to the hype. Their service was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was so relaxed and casual. This is definitely one of my favorite spots that I've tried while traveling recently. If you are looking for a cute and quaint spot for excellent kahvaltı, this is the place!! Highly recommend! I definitely will try to make it back whenever I return to Istanbul. Bookmark it now!
