Everything I said in my previous review still holds true.
Today is Thursday.
We managed to:
- take the 11:30am ferry from Isla Mujeres,
- get the cab across the street from the Puerto Juarez ferry dock (near the convenience store) for 70 pesos (after talking to four other drivers who approached us and asked for 200),
- arrive at the ADO bus station by 11:58am,
- get in line to buy the ticket for 20 mins, and
- buy tickets for the 12:20pm bus two mins before (98 pesos per person),
- to arrive at the airport T3 by 12:58pm.
We got in line at LabCare with a good 7 people ahead of us. We waited 30 mins, paid at 1:30pm on the dot, got our noses swabbed, and had our results in our inboxes at 1:56pm. In the meantime, we filled out the health questionnaire at https://www.vuelaseguro.com. You need this to enter security.
We asked for paper copies before going through security, and I'm now sitting at my gate writing this: it's 2:48pm, and my flight's at 5pm.
So the whole get to the airport 4 hrs ahead of your flight from the airline is BS. Just get here 2.5 hrs ahead of time to do the swab test at the airport, which means leave the island (Isla Mujeres) 4 hrs before your flight. You'll still have at least half an hr until your gate closes. read more
