Includes breakfast. Fairly basic with bread and spreads. Yogurts and cereals. Some fruit. They accommodated out bikes in the garage. Not exactly accessible. If you need the elevator you have to go down stairs first. Getting to our room involved several more stairs even after using elevator. Also, elevator is tiny. Don't think you could fit most wheelchairs on it.

I started with the mussels in Camembert sauce which had a mussel flavour which went really well in the red creamy sauce. It was like a thick soup which I shared with a friend - it's too rich to eat all alone. A couple of other people had the ficelle picarde which was a crepe stuffed with mushrooms. Tasty! We all had the lamb stew light and tasty. Lots of veg which was a nice change. The menu also comes with a three cheese gateau with caramelised apples and walnuts. I thought the Roquefort cheese overwhelmed the dish but everyone else really enjoyed it. And for dessert, we had a sort of baked flan with cooked apples. This was tasty as well although slightly on the sweet side. A really nice venue, we stayed for around 3 hours for a really leisurely fun meal!

Drive through the easternmost edges of Normandy and pick up the D29 for Aumale. Aumale is in Haute-Normandie, metres from the boundary with Picardie, but in character it is full-on Normandaise. It's scarcely credible that Normandy lovers can have their fix this far inland, but it's true! The Villa des Houx (Holly Mansion) is a beautifully restored old Norman house, all timbered frames, with 22 rooms at delightfully low prices, and a Logis de France recommended restaurant. It's the ideal place to break to journey to Paris. Wander about the 5K sq.m. gardens, or stroll up to the old village. The restaurant will not disappoint you, and you can expect the typical cuisine of Normandy - perhaps a little rich for some tastes with abundant cream, cider and calvados featuring in many dishes. Do not book a room at this hotel!!! They totally scammed and conned us. We intentionally paid about…read more33 Euros more a night for a room with a view of the sea. However, we cannot even see the sea from our room. Instead all we see is the front of a concrete building (as pictured). When I went to the reception desk to ask for a room from which we can actually see the sea, I was told that they do not have anymore rooms. They did not even apologize nor offer to discount the room rate to one without a view. When our booking agent called the hotel on our behalf, the hotel told the booking agent that the rate could not be reduced. So we are paying 33 Euros a night (for 2 nights, so a total of 66 Euros) for the view of a concrete building.
