The woman at reception actually brought us to our room and showed us how the key worked (yep, wave it here for u locking the door and insert here for the electricity) and she explained the mini bar. I have NEVER been showed to my room in a 3-star hotel. The beds are gorgeous and comfortable with extra pillows in both rectangular and square (those of you who have tried sleeping on a traditional square French pillow will understand how essential rectangular pillows really are). My boyfriend claimed the shower was the best hotel shower we have ever had. The rooms are finished with top quality light switches and bathroom fittings (I know, it sounds lame, but my attention to detail about these things let me know that this hotel was invested in our comfort). The rooms were quiet and private, and quite big by French hotel standards. The TV had channels in French, English, and German (but no movie or sport channels, but who wants to watch tv on a holiday in Biscarrosse anyway!?) All-in-all well worth the €69 euros for the night.

I have no words for Michel Guérard to which have not already been published internationally about the food, cookery, history and experience. Staying onsite is a great way to enjoy their luxurious Spa facilities and be sure to try both restaurants that are located on the property. You'll experience service like no other hotel in France! Every once in a while you go someplace that exceeds it's marketing hype. We stayed here for 3…read morenights and I tell you, this is one of those places. First clue: The restaurant has 3 Michelin stars -- and well earned. Truly exquisite service. I can't think of a restaurant that has had better, including other multiple stared Michelin restaurants in France and Portugal I've been to. And the food, oh man, classic and modern and fresh and local and amazing all at once. I had multiple courses, but the mushroom medley in parsley cream sauce was all by itself beyond delicious. Our room, the "Secret Garden" was absolutely fabulous, the grounds beautiful, and the spa, my second ever "thermal baths" spa, couldn't have been much better, totally blowing away my Calistoga spa experience in Napa, California. I've been to a lot of wonderful places around the world. Many I would return to if I happen to be in the neighborhood. This is one place I will make a point of returning to, no excuses necessary. Tips: We stayed in " Le Couvent des Herbes" building and so can only speak to those rooms. Ours was beautiful, with a to die for bathroom. One note, its an old building with thick wood beam floors upstairs and we did hear the neighbors above us stomping around at times. If this bothers you, I suggest getting a room upstairs if possible.
