This is perhaps the most notable of all the buildings you would find in the entire town of Saverne…read more With it's elaborate carved wood outside and medieval circular glass panes, it is guaranteed to attract anyone's attention.
It definitely attracted ours as we were visiting the city with my wife and extended family and made us sit there. While we were attracted there initially by the decoration, we were extremely pleasantly surprised when the drinks and the food were on par with the decor, just as their service.
The local beer - Licorne - comes fresh from the tap and from the brewery that is only about 5 km away. It is absolutely delicious and they have quite q choice of it; even more if the bottled options are included.
Similarly, for food we went with a beginner dish of escargots (it's France after all), followed with two dishes of baked potato pancakes (delicious), as well as a slice of cooked ham (unexpectedly good as well) and aubergine-based dough boiled in water with potatoes and mushrooms on the side (absolutely amazing).
Overall, we were extremely satisfied. The very fast and courteous service was a cherry on the top - I am definitely coming back next time I am stopping by in Saverne!
