    Bierstadel - Cute German pub

This was my first real German meal here and I gotta say it wasn't easy simply because nobody spoke English to us. After looking confused at the menu, the waitress brought me an English menu. Phew!!! I started off with the pancake soup. This was a good salty broth with lots of green onions and egg like pancake strips. The Asian in me desperately wanted a bowl of rice to mix into the soup! Only 3 euros and well worth it on a cold day. Bierstadels home made pan: two large pieces of thick pork seared perfectly! A cream mushroom sauce bathed in it. A large side of homemade spatzle (noodles) accompanied it. All in all, it was a good hearty dish but there was a strong, horseradish like flavor that I didn't like. Maybe other locals like this flavor but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I must say the pork was cooked perfectly! The Special: a softball size pork that seemed to be cooked in beer. Cooked to perfection! Again, beer in my pork is not my cup of tea, but my husband enjoyed it immensely. My kids chicken wings were super TASTY but there were only three wings :(. My daughters schnitzel was a good, large size with a great crunch but the middle was a bit soggy. Both came with great fries, slice of watermelon and my kids' fave, a lollipop! There's no ordinary water here, only sparking water with a small slice of lemon. There's a Biergarten outside so of course, a huge array of beer. There's no way to finish the meal on my plate, so they happily boxed up my meal. For us, service was ok... But I think the language barrier was the main reason for it. For all the other patrons who spoke German, it seemed like everyone was an old friend. They were however cordial and friendly. All in all... It was a 3.5 star experience but I'm feeling generous today. Their large portions definitely pushes it to 4 star range.

Schlösslesmühle is tucked into a narrow valley about halfway between Leinfelden and Waldenbuch, and while you can drive there, the best way to get there is to walk or bike from the parking lot near the Musberg Seebruckenmühle bus stop (~25 minute walk) or the lot near the Musberg Eselsmühle bus stop (~45 minute walk). There are a few parking spots out front, but no more than 4-5; walking or biking here is the norm. Most of the seating is outside in a beer garden, but there are a few tables inside as well. Ordering is done at the register, when food is ready a server walks out and calls the order number, you raise you hand, and they bring it over. Prices were fine for the portion sizes, less than €20 total for two beers, a brat platter with salad and fries, and a piece of strawberry cake, which fed two of us. Food was a little above average, but nothing amazing. The salad plate that came with the brat platter had a little bit of mixed greens, some pickled radish, and some potato salad as well; the variety was nice rather than just getting a giant plate of greens. The brats (a plump and white style) were nicely grilled, with the casings crisped up better than usual. Pommes were, well, pommes, and had the usual seasoned-salt shaken over them. The strawberry cake was excellent, with quality strawberries and a light filling between two layers of white cake. With all the hikes to do in the surrounding area, we'll definitely be back for a lunch break here.

Bottom Line: Fantastic location, decent food, friendly service…read more Ganssee Stuble is a small local place in a quiet residential neighborhood in Boblingen, and on a nice night the patio is a great place to eat. On the patio you are surrounded by the hills around you, which are both pretty and very effective at keeping it nice and quiet. It's a little challenging to find because it's on a one-way street in the middle of a little neighborhood, but there was a good amount of parking out front. This seems to be a family joint, and while the waitress didn't have the best English, it was both far better than our German, and more than adequate for us to order. As far as the food went, it was perfectly fine if not amazing. The schweineschnitzel was the best that we had all week; perfectly cooked, moist inside, and still sizzling when it came out. The jaegerschnitzel was also quite good, but the spaetzle with it was underwhelming. One nice touch was that all of the entrees came with a small salad, which was the only time all week that we got a vegetable that wasn't potato. This was a nice place to grab a beer and some basic bar food, and if I lived in the area I'd stop by, but not worth driving from Vaihingen just for it.

They have free snacks, bottled water both bubbly and not and free coffee. Flavored waters as well. Snacks to include some packaged sausage, cheese, chips and other stuff. Also every morning starting at 0630 there is free breakfast buffet across the road. Eggs, meats, breads, jellies, coffee juice, the works. Really awesome and nice restaurant. My room rate included the breakfast. All free and very good. Staff are super nice and accommodating. When the tap went down they walked across the street and got beer for us. Really top notch service. The rooms are good. I would say they are not upscale but they are not substandard. They are comfortable and get the job done. Bed was a bit firm but it ended up being great. They have a pillow exchange if you hate your pillow. Did I mention free beer? Now I get hot and hate sleeping in the heat. They have heat registers in room so if it was winter you will be ok. I did not see an A/C unit in my room. Not sure how hot days would be in the room if no A/C. This week has been in the 50s/60s so I left the windows open and I was fine. Noise from the road if you are light sleeper could be bad but it did not bother me to much. All in all awesome stay.
