They were open, though, and we were placed at a table by the window. Within the next hour, a couple more tables filled up, but still pretty empty. The menu was interesting.. and we weren't that hungry after our wine tasting so we ordered and split 3 things: Octopus - This was just okay. The texture was a bit hard and chewy. Probably wouldn't recommend. Tempura Shrimp - The shell was WAY too thick, it was like biting into a ball of dough with a tiny shrimp in there somewhere. Also wouldn't recommend. Lamb (I believe they are famous for) - This was pretty good and what they get the 3 stars for. I don't normally eat lamb, but I ate some of this and enjoyed it. My bf, who does eat lamb, said that it was really good. We left behind two bottles of wine that we had purchased at Anuva, and no one chased us down to bring it to us (we were walking a few blocks to our hotel and could not have gotten far when they found it) but when we went back to get it, they did give it to us (it was already behind the counter though.. hm....) but I still get a shady feeling like they were trying to keep it for themselves. Oh well, our bad for leaving it behind.

I do prefer their previous layout and ambiance. Excellent ambiance, food, service, and prices. It's a small and intimate restaurant with nice lighting. I was there when another party was celebrating a birthday. They had a violin player that added to the joyful ambiance. I don't know much about wine, but their Shiraz Trumpeter was unforgettable - it felt like it evaporated on your tongue. This is the first time I give a restaurant 5 stars.

The veggie tricolor has too much melted cheese for me on the three roasted veggies of the day, but I'm probably alone in that opinion. Perhaps most importantly it's a cooperative so the workers are sharing the profit and decision process, and it's the locus point of the left in the neighborhood. Second most important thing: their cortados (coffee) are the best I've had in the city. No contest.

There are nights in Buenos Aires when a place almost wins you over--almost. Voulez Bar is one of…read morethose joints. I walked in wanting to love it, the way you want to love a dive with a good story or a bistro that whispers promises of competence. But the truth? The service stumbled right out of the gate and never quite found its footing. Still... damn. The kitchen and the bar were doing God's work. The Negroni arrived like a small miracle--balanced, bitter, confident. The kind of drink that tells you someone behind the bar actually gives a damn. And the Caesar salad? Stellar. Crisp, cold, unapologetically flavorful. A dish made by people who understand that simplicity is only simple when you know exactly what you're doing. But then there's the other side of the coin--the service that drifted between indifference and absence. Not rude, not hostile--just... not there. And in a city where so many places are there, that lack of care hits harder than it should. Voulez Bar was a single warm gesture away from greatness. A little attention, a little heart, and I could've found five stars in me without hesitation. Hell, even a gentle nudge toward competence and I'd give them 4.5. But service matters. It's the handshake, the welcome, the unspoken pact that your night is safe in their hands. Here, that pact was broken. And no matter how good the food and drink were--and they were damn good--I can't pretend the service didn't drag the whole thing down. 3.7/5 stars. With a sigh, and a promise to come back if they ever decide to care as much as their kitchen clearly does. JB

Fast forward to NYE at 9pm, we're walking around aimlessly trying to find restaurants that were a. open and b. accepting walk-ins. We stumbled across A Nos Amours and spoke to the french waiter who also appeared to be the owner to see if they had any spots for their Prix fix menu. He was apologetic and said he only had ingredients for a preplanned number of diners, but called a party that was late for their reservation. Long story short, we walked around the block and were waved down by him to take a seat. The wine list is largely (if not totally) sulphate free and their cheese preservative free as well. We enjoyed a relaxing 3 hour Argentinian/French style dinner and rang in the new year after a delicious meal. The coconut broth prawns and were memorable and the dessert had beautiful textures. If you're craving French food while in Argentina, look for this spot!…read more My friends and I were casually walking back to the hotel and looking for a place for dinner. We stumbled across this place. We walked in and spoke with the owner who is French himself. Even though it was packed we were accommodated within about 8-10 minutes. There were 4 of us. The menu has all the French traditional dishes you expect. I ordered the escargot and other appetisers included oysters and French onion soup. The food tasted incredible! Fresh, hot and seasoned well. I ordered the salon, other orders included beef and duck. Everyone was completely satisfied with their dishes and I can tell you my salmon was amazing. Our dinner was accompanied by great Malbec (when in Argentina get great Malbec)wine. The ambiance in this place was great, very lively and loud as everyone had been enjoying their dinner. The price was very, very reasonable. I can't say if it's expensive for locals with the Argentine peso, but for US dollars this dinner was super cheap for us. A must go if you're in the neighbourhood or in BA!
