Food: Feels a lot like home. Their black beans were actually flavorful and so was the pulled pork! Everyone claimed their food was good and even a local colleague of mine said that it was her new goto for Mexican in Toulouse! I have been here before, but didn't review it back 5-6 years ago. Great food, limited menu but they do have vegetarian and even vegan options! Atmosphere: Very Dia de Los Muertos vibe inside, it's very cool. I believe the original owners were actually from Mexico City, not sure if they still own the place. Check out the TP tree picture, pretty funny, reminds me of a cactus from Mexico. The place is small though, beware! A big party you need to make a reservation. And even then, it's tight. Service: It could be because this is in downtown and there are more visitors here, but the waitress asked if we needed anything! I hadn't gotten that all week while I was here in France. It's not a diss, it's just something most places don't do. Thumbs up! Price: Not bad actually, you'll spend 20 Euro on a plate then 10 Euro on an app and whatever for drinks. 40 Euro for a good Mexican meal is good in my book! Overall: After eating French food all week, this place is my "Taste of Home." Coming from San Francisco, we were so happy to find a real Mexican restaurant in Toulouse, and bonus points that they actually make their own corn tortillas - they are delicious! I haven't tried a lot of Mexican food here in Toulouse since there's not a lot, but I'd find it hard to believe there's better Mexican food than this. We like to come here for a casual, inexpensive meal - no fancy three course menu or anyone explaining all the ingredients to you. The menu is large enough to have variety, but not too large to be confusing. We've gotten the guacamole several times, and it comes in a huge mound but it actually has some shredded lettuce at the bottom. I wouldn't say the guacamole is the best I've had - it actually lacks a bit of spice/kick. I think it could use some lime and cumin. Also, the chips are deep fried tortillas so they are pretty thick and oily, and not as light and crispy as I'd like. If you're craving guacamole, you can get it but don't expect anything spicy or what you'd be used to in California. But I think I could make something similar at home so it's nothing to go crazy over. I almost always get the chicken mole enchiladas and they are great. I love the corn tortillas, the chicken is flavorful, and it goes well with the rice and beans. The mole is excellent too and not overly sweet. I'd highly recommend this dish. We got the chile relleno also, which was good but a little odd that it's stuffed with mashed potatoes. This particular dish also seems to have a lot of cheese, but I wouldn't expect anything less being in France, the land of cheese. Overall, a great place to come get Mexican food. Highly recommend the chicken mole enchiladas! Dinner for 2 with an appetizer and a 500 mL bottle of wine is usually around 45-50€. read more

This is an authentic Mexican restaurant located in the center of Toulouse. Having lived in Texas, we love Tex-Mex flavors and Mexican is definitely different... but oh so good. La Sandia is the only real Mexican restaurant of Toulouse (recommended to us by a Mexican friend). We liked the watermelon (=sandia in Spanish) decoration from the wall art to the placemats. We had chicken mole (chocolate sauce) served with rice and the enchilada - both served with freshly-made corn tortillas. It was very very good and filling: definitely no more room for dessert. The staff is from Mexico and they just do such a good job! I recommend booking because the restaurant is always full. Also good to know: you can buy corn tortillas to take-away!! read more

As surprising as it may sound, this is one of the best traditional Mexican restaurant on the planet ! I know, in France, right ... And I am not even kidding ! I live in Los Angeles, traveled in Mexico and not too many places compare to this one. The owner/ chef is from Mexico City and her recipes are very traditional, even one from her grand- mother. Combine that with the freshness of the ingredients in France and her certain culinary talents, you got yourself into some serious ancestral Mexican cooking. I sent many American friends traveling in Toulouse there and they always come back with the same absolutely surprised smile on their face. My favorites, if they are still n the menu, Albondigas al Chipotle, Chile Relleno and Cochinita Pibil. A not to be missed in Toulouse !!! Locals know that very well as the place is always packed. Ate here last month with a group of friends. Loved the decor and the server was nice and efficient. The menu offers a wide array of authentic Mexican food. I ordered the tacos al pastor which were good. The homemade tortillas were great. I was not a fan of the guacamole (I make better at home) so I would avoid it. Everyone in my group liked what they ordered. One complaint was that it wasn't spicy enough - that is not a problem for me because I am a wimp when it comes to spice. On the upside, this is actually a genuine Mexican restaurant. It is not CalMex, it is not TexMex, it is not fake. It is real, typical, regional Mexican cuisine. I doubt there are many places I could say this of in France, or even in Europe more broadly. On the downside, it is not very good Mexican food. It is solid and tasty, but definitely nothing that would be competitive in a US city with a significant Mexican population. Avoid the guacamole. Margaritas are awesome I tasted Mexico deluxe and volcanes they are both delicious.(my group was happy with every meal ) The guacamole has big chunks of tomatoes/lettuce not the best guacamole I had because I'm from L.A and we eat guacamole frequently and I have to say this is not the best . ( chips are good) Waiter forgets things, when you ask for something he forgets to bring it to you.
