Chicken taco with beans, cilantro, and limes
Jeannette A.

Great small-scale spot in the back of La Rosita. My dad used to bring us here as kids for cheap, authentic, delicious tacos. So I am keeping up tradition and brought my daughter and gf. Got 1- Carnitas taco and 1- Carnitas (Both American style). Both were delicious. Great amount of meat on both. Carnitas was very juicy and tender with good flavor. Like how chopped the steak is. I feel like it makes a huge difference so you get very few, if not any chewy pieces.!! Good call. My daughter got the chicken taco with beans, cilantro, and limes. Tried a bite and was surprised how juicy and good the flavor was. Next time I'll get one of those. Rice didn't have much flavor. Beans were decent, light in color

a can of corned beef

I came here hoping to find some fresh fish, no luck but I probably just didn't see it. Anyways, this review's sole purpose is just to vent how annoyed I am about being charged $2 more for some corned beef that was on sale. I know it's partly my fault for not checking my receipt right away especially after seeing Clerk 067 struggling with scanning it, but normally aren't you supposed to ask the customers too just to confirm the price and not select the highest price of corned beef? I didn't even wanna pay more than $4 for Prego, what makes you think I wanna pay over $6 bucks for corned when I could've gotten a better brand. I could be wrong on this and the product was just priced/placed wrong coz I've noticed that on some other products too. Not sure if i'll be back here again, but if I do it's probably to go to the bakery or try the Taqueria and I'll definitely have to check my receipt at the store! Lol

If your "taco kit" doesn't look like this, you're at the wrong place.

You know you're tacos are going to be good when a Mexican grocery store has a taqueria inside! Best place to go to in Glendale Heights and surrounding areas. This is a quick, pick up and go spot when you're in the mood for tacos! They have variety of tacos: Al Pastor, Asada, Chorizo, Chicharrón (green/red salsa), Tripa (upon request, not on their actual menu), Barbacoa & Cecina (weekends only), Chile Relleno. I think I may have left out a few. I was in and out in about 5-10 mins. They work fast! They have the option to sit down and eat your food. Perhaps that's an option if you're grocery shopping. They have more than tacos. They also do large orders on rice and beans. My wife and I have done that. I'm sure they can do large orders on other things. The best tacos I have found have usually been from a Mexican grocery store! There's a big movement out there for gourmet tacos and to escalate Mexican food. However, if you're looking for the real deal without breaking the bank, this is the place to go! Portions on the tacos are generous and they double up on tortillas. You'll not be disappointed. Check it out and judge for yourself.

Tacos (two chicken and one al pastor). They do not skimp on the fillings.

If there is a better value taqueria in the area, I have yet to find it. This gem is tucked in toward the back of the store (after you make the first turn past the produce). The food here is authentic and delicious. They generously fill each taco, which means that two or three will satisfy your hunger for a long while. They serve cebollitas and grilled pickled jalapenos to complement your order. I really can't think of any flaws with the execution here. Very impressive. Two other things - they do offer chicharrones in the sheet format here, though they don't seem to be a great value as compared to places like Carnitas Uruapan in Pilsen. Also, they have an excellent Mexican bakery at the front of the store, with an exceptional selection of treats. Grab a tray and a set of tongs, and go crazy. You'll pay at the register in the bakery department - and not much either!

This grocery store always has gud prices & the Taqueria is really gud. Now has a La Michoacana location inside!

Cake I ordered

I have been very disappointed with their bakery! I ordered a cake for my granddaughters baptism and when I went to pick it up they hadn't even started to make it. I vowed I would not go back but my daughter wanted a tres leches cake and theirs is the best. However, the design I ordered is nothing like what I ordered. Taste was great though.

Taco de Al Pastor

If you find yourself grocery shopping at La Rosita, you must pay a visit to their taqueria. The tacos are so full you can make 2 out of 1. Tried the asada, al pastor, and chicharron. All were good. Next time I'll have to try the lengua and barbacoa.

Been coming for years. Authentic Mexican food. Reminds me of Jalisco Guadalajara. So rich in flavor. The best carnitas ever.

I ordered the three beef taco dinner and my guest had a Harlem Sandwich which was Italian beef and Italian sausage. Both were delicious. They also have a bar area. After lunch we finished our grocery shopping! My tip, check out the bakery with the homemade Italian cookies and fresh bread!

My husband shops there at least three times a week, which says a lot about how much we've relied on it over the years. We genuinely like this store, but lately we've noticed a decline in the quality of the produce. Things like tomatoes appearing shriveled or, at times, even moldy. It's disappointing, especially for a place we trust for everyday shopping. I also attempted to place an order for Easter dinner, something we've done many times in the past. Prices have increased quite a bit, so this year I decided to keep it simple and order just the lamb. The online system didn't allow me to select the date I needed, so I called for help. That's where things became frustrating. I spoke with Chef Jose, and communication was difficult. I asked if he spoke Spanish, since it's my native language and I thought it might help. His response felt dismissive, mentioning he speaks Italian and other things, but the interaction itself came across as borderline rude and unhelpful. That impression was later echoed by the front desk, who suggested I contact another chef. Chef Doug, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Even though we played a bit of phone tag, he consistently followed up with a helpful and kind attitude, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this is still a market we want to love. It has been part of our routine and community. But between the recent produce issues and inconsistent customer service, it has been a bit disappointing compared to what it once was. I'm hopeful they find their way back to the quality and warmth that made them our favorite local market in the first place. BTW, one must place the order all the way to the paying screen to be able to select the desire pick up date.

They have canned goods from sardines, to Asian fruits like jackfruit, banana blossoms, bamboo shoots, and all kinds of sweet jar of coconut for Filipino desserts halo halo. And don't forget the 25-50 lbs bags of assorted kinds of rice from short grain, to long grain, Jasmin rice, and brown rice plus sweet rice.
