FIRST Review in English-- (am almost reticent to give this jewel away to those who don't speak a second language)
I lived in this town in for three summers 1989-1991. This restaurant, La Rocaille, was wonderful--great price for quick service and quality then and apparently now--I used to eat here four-five nights a week.
I've read the current (in French ONLY) reviews and even though years have passed--apparently this STILL is a great place...
I always opted for the currently most expensive 10euro (multi-course) meal while I was living there (look for the menu in the photos)-- My travel companion always had the 7,80€ (9usd Aug. 2018) meal- salad, chicken or omelet, fries, dessert.
During my years I tried all current four main options offered:
-two types of local sausage (one spicy-Merguez--good),
-beef "steack" (tough/poor quality, over or under-cooked-DO NOT)--
-LOVED the 1/4 chicken
Their country "Terrine de Pate" - In 1991 they brought a country paté to the table...you could slice what you wanted..
Then a very thin, but quite good herb (no cheese or meat) omelette--
And their lightly dressed "sweet greens" salad-- BEST--seemed to be "directly from garden"--
The "pommes frites"--were wonderful then...the current photos show thicker "steak fries"--I prefer skinny. .
Also with great fresh bread. Do not ask for, nor expect butter (USA) or olive oil (Italy) with your bread--ask for mustard should you need your bread to be wet.
I am sure things have changed...but the YELP and Google reviews show this is still quite a great place to eat for a good price (under 12usd Aug. 2018 or less). Makes me want to go back there ASAP during OFF MONTHS Sept-April.
Photos show they are now serving "Jumbo Prawns" at 15+€-- be prepared to clean and devein your own (based upon photos)--but I'm sure they will taste great. I love shrimp/prawns--the way these are served seem to be like my time in Asia--so expect to do some work for your dinner if "shrimp/prawn".
Again..the "Poulet" is quite good. read more
