This is one of the best tapas restaurants in Zaragoza. We came here with my husband's coworkers who…read moreare locals, as its one of their favorite places. I've been twice which was great because it allowed me try more of the menu. The food is inventive and creative! These are modern tapas. It gets pretty crowded downstairs, but if you head upstairs there's more seating. We were lucky and easily found seating upstairs both times even with a group. It has a fun vibe upstairs. It's very hip with cool decor and lots of plants. I absolutely loved the mi-cuit with watermelon ice cream. It's like a foie topped with watermelon sorbet. It sounds strange, but wow! It's unbelievable. Their "a la greisca" potatoes were delicious! I didn't want to share. I should preface that a lot of these tapas are single-serving and you can't quite share with a group. We were in a group, so my husband shared up my order of potatoes with everyone, which I was disappointed about since they were so good! All of the other dishes we have ordered have been good. My husband and I always share our food with each other so despite the small single-sized portions, we still managed to taste each others' picks, so I feel with two visits that I've tried a good portion of the menu. Prices are higher than other tapas spots in Zaragoza, but I think it's justified for the fun and modern tapas. We're back in Zaragoza for a month now, and I will definitely be returning to order the dish with the watermelon ice cream again! I think I'll try the sushi ice cream dessert too this time. TIP: They have an English menu; just ask for it. Also, the staff I have encountered so far have all spoken some English.

La Piparra was serving traditional Spanish food with vegan/ vegetarian options. My meal here included a tortilla Española vegana with zucchini and red pimento peppers, migas con chorizo vegano, and another delicious veggie take on pickled boquerones made with pickled zucchini squash, all of course served with fresh bread. For dessert: a baked vegan cheesecake. This was such a fun and delicious meal. All spanish here, no english-- at least when I was here in July 2023 in the old location in Zaragoza. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

The menu is only in Spanish, but they use typical ingredients so it's fairly easy to read and understand. The prices are very reasonable. Don't get your heart set on ordering something you saw on their Instagram, because those are all daily specials. (I'm talking to myself here) They don't bring you water until you've been waiting quite awhile, so if you want water right away, make sure you specifically request it. They serve beer and wine, espresso drinks, and sodas. There are coat racks, and the bathrooms are clean and well-stocked. Another warning: the light in the bathroom turns off before you're finished, so you might be peeing and trying to find toilet paper in the dark. Soooo that's a fun adventure.
