Small counter service deli where you can grab an indoor seat and a reasonably priced glass of wine or (self service) beer and relax away from the sweltering summer heat. We wanted a lighter meal after all the carb-heavy pizza and pasta. We let them talk us into ordering for the #15 for two. Discovered this through Yelp while staying in Rome. It is pretty busy during peak times but the service is still quick and friendly. You order at the counter and get your wine immediately, so it's easier to find your seat before ordering. Our order of a bottle Chianti Classico ($16) was given to us at the counter and our platter (meat, cheese, and fruit plate for $5 a person) was delivered about five minutes later. We would definitely recommend a seat on the street where you can people watch on the main street of Trastevere if you can get one! read more

Highly, highly recommend getting a mixed plate of meats and cheeses to share - just look at the pictures people have posted! $5 per person for a small portion, $10 for medium, and $15 for large, comes out on gorgeously plated cheeseboards. I could sit here all night (FYI there is plenty of extra seating downstairs) and listen to their mix of club music and 90s billboard hits. They also have a very extensive wine and alcohol menu. What can I say? I loved it! We chose a mixte for two people. Just one word: HUGE, there was a lot of variety, many different types of meat and some cheese, plus some brushettas and fruts. Ran into this little restaurant during our short stay in Rome. And I have to say, this place had the absolute best food out of all the restaurants we visited during our entire trip through Italy (Florence, Vienna, Naples, Rome, Amalfi). In fact, we came here twice over the 3 days we were in Rome as the food was that good. The platters were plentiful and has some of the finest and highest quality meats. The cheese and fruits included with each platter was just a bonus. The place is a bit on the small side so you may have to wait a while to get seated and served but it is definitely worth it. It is also one of the more popular places with the locals so you're very likely to run into a few of them who are regulars. But they're very friendly and are actually quite fun to talk to and hang out with. Definitely will come to this place again next time we're in Rome. read more

The employees speak English really well, tap water is free (and much better than the normal tap water found around the city), and the house wine is cheap at 9 euros for a whole bottle. We ordered the mixed platter for 2, and at 10 euros each we received a medium size wooden slab adorned with meats, cheeses and fruits, along with some bread. It was a good amount and good value for the food quality. I would have liked a little more assortment of meats/cheeses but overall a solid experience. Definitely a good place to try out if you're in the neighbourhood. I can't help but give the mouthwatering, little piece of Italian Heaven a big 5. This place was really over all a top 10. The ambiance, the people and the food were divine. I have literally had dreams about La Prosciuteria since returning from Italy. It was our favorite dinner spot during our stay. Yes, the place is tiny and often crowded, but it is worth it. Arrived here to get a bite to eat before heading to Naples. I ordered a sandwich (ciabatta with salami & fresh mozzarella with a tomato and mushroom spread) and it was delicious!! I also ordered a glass of wine that didn't cost me more than 3 euros (score!). A few shops are located around this location so if they are not open when you arrive you can shop around for a bit. I was only able to eat half of my sandwich so know that you can share with somebody. read more

They sure know how to put together a good looking board! We got the medium sized mixed board for two and a couple glasses of wine. The meat and cheese selections were all very tasty, although we didn't love the spreads we got and the bread could have been better. As others have noted, there is no table service as this isn't technically a restaurant, but it was a smooth process to order and pick up our food at the counter. This was hands down our favorite place in Rome. Such a good local place in trastevere. Definitely recommend!

To start they have signs throughout their establishment that state that they do not have a restaurant licence and are technically not a restaurant. We walk in and the gentleman that appeared to be running the place told us to seat ourselves. Once we realized that we had to then get up and order from the counter, we left our jacket to save our spot since it is a small space. As we are standing at the counter and waiting for someone to assist us, a bus person moved our jacket so another two people could sit where we were. The main host saw what happened and did nothing. So we left, maybe they are usually good but we will never know. read more

My friend and I visited this place the afternoon before we left Rome. Boy do I wish we would have discovered it sooner... we probably would have stopped by every afternoon for a glass of wine and and a meat/cheese platter had we discovered this sooner. We purchased the largest meat cheese platter and it did not disappoint. (Will try to attach photo later.) I like to think of myself as a bit of a meat/cheese connoisseur and the different meats and cheeses offered got wiped off the entire platter. Huge fresh mozzarella ball, with other various meats and cheeses that I can't seem to remember as it's been a couple months since my visit. A couple glasses of wine paired with this board was the perfect ending to an afternoon walking the streets of Rome before heading back to rest at our Airbnb before going out for the evening.
