La Posada is a Mexican winter festival, I think for the 9 days before Christmas. OHC had its first one this year, and I hope it is an annual event. Music, dancing, food, crafts, vendors... it was a fun afternoon for everyone.
The acoustics in the center of the museum are great, and the mariachi band was a blast. Then dancers of assorted ages came on; there were several performances by each throughout the afternoon. There was a talk on the meaning of La Posada, but we missed it. Had some Mexican pastries, and samples of street corn, etc. There were tacos and posole for sale, which smelled terrific but we had already eaten lunch.
Vendors of crafts, macarons, and more were scattered through the central halls. There was a kid's crafts table. I heard there was a pinata but we missed that too. Still, Baby K was thrilled by all of it, and I had fun too. Definitely coming back next year. read more
