Perhaps the bar used to share the kitchen with the restaurant upstairs, but this did not appear to be the case during our visit in September 2016. My husband, sister and I visited Verjus with the hopes of enjoying a bottle or two of wine as well as some heavy tapas. When I mentioned seeing the tapas menu the bartender got confused and said they only offer a small selection of cheese and charcuterie at the bar, but nothing cooked. We attempted to make a reservation at the restaurant upstairs, but unfortunately they were booked solid. We each ordered a glass of wine and split several plates of prosciutto and cheese at the bar. Everything was nice, but we were looking for dinner and the bar was a bit warmer than I would have preferred so after we finished our wine and cheese we ventured off elsewhere. This tiny wine bar is very charming spot to grab a glass of wine, but don't expect to find any tapas here.

Handydandy yelp Paris has pointed us in the right direction to Verjus! My bf and I were searching…read morefor a restaurant that would WOW us for our last dinner in Paris. Call in advance to make dinner reservations because we did not and the only opening was at 9:45pm. So we opted for the wine bar downstairs, which serves tapas. At first I was a little bummed about not being able to dine at the restaurant upstairs, but the wine bar was FANTASTIC! Here's what we ordered, with the best being at the top of the list. 1. The GNOCCHI was to die for...the pieces were small and ever-so-slightly crispy on the outside. 2. The SPICY FRIED CHICKEN (yes, we order manfood staples when my bf is with me) was so juicy on the inside yet crispy on the outside. The chicken was bursting with flavor. 3. The FLANK STEAK with CHIMICHURRI sauce was surprisingly tender and flavorful. 4. We also had the CELERY ROOT GYOZA. This was hands down the best food that we had in Paris. I can only imagine what the upstairs restaurant serves! The bartender was super cool and was helpful in recommending wine pairings with our food. She poured samples to make sure that we were happy with our wine selections. She also speaks perfectly good English if you're wondering! Thank you yelp for helping us pick out a fantastic restaurant to end our week in Paris. Merci beaucoup!

Yelp Elite had their first event here and it was a great way to start off the New Year (thanks…read moreZeva)! Fantastic casual and comfortable bar/tapas place with a cool "cave" downstairs that is literally a cave! The Yelp event was all downstairs in the cozy bar with an adjoining lounge next to the gated and padlocked stock of liquor. I had the drink called "Mary Used To Smoke" and it was like drinking a smoky meal in a glass (think a thin gazpacho)! Wonderful for those who don't want something sweet but prefer something aromatic to accompany their food. Some thought it was too strong, but I preferred it to the sweeter fruitier Ruby Caroll. We got tastes of the tapas; bites of croque monsieur, jambon, and tuna. We had one sweet bite I didn't care for, but others loved it (guess you can tell I'm not really a sweet eater)! Definitely an address to go for drinks (they serve coffees too) or bites when you want some place that's unique and fun with nice service (they were swamped and still smiled)!

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, especially considering our low levels of French. The decor is charming and warm, and downstairs is a very cool layout of cozy alcoves for groups. I could sit here for hours - and I think we did sit there for three or so. The aperitivo spread was well worth the wait: all-you-can-eat prosciutto/mortadella, homemade chips and pickles, pickled salad wraps, mustard seed roast potatoes, and an egg tart. Clearly I sampled it all... and it was all so high quality and delicious, I couldn't believe it was free! Cocktails were a euro less during happy hour, and are reasonable for the strength and quantity otherwise.

We loved it! A real find that we were only directed to by our Air BNB host…read more It's a tiny delicatessen and wine shop, which is obviously popular with the locals. By no means cheap, but worth EVERY penny. No menu, just take a table (if you're lucky) and you'll be asked if you want meat or cheese or mixed. You'll get a decent sized platter with bread and fig chutney for £8-10 per person, and you can order wine to go with it. They speak great English and also sell a small range of deli items, from chutneys to chocolates, bread and more. And all the cheese/meat you taste!

A little wine bar up the road from one of the best boulangeries in Paris (Sebastian Gaudard)…read more If all of the selfie sticks at the Sacré Coeur are too much for you then head down here for a much more relaxed afternoon of people watching. The bar is full of Corsican wines, excellent sausage (some of the best), cheese. Pick your bottle from the shelf and pay a small corkage fee. Corsican whites are generally quite mineral, fresh and slightly salty (due to the island influence). They are a perfect match with sausage because the acid cuts through the fat nicely. They also have a range of wines by the glass but getting a bottle is far more social. The reds are juicy and spiced so again perfect with sausage. It's a non-debatable topic: you must get the mixed cheese and charcuterie plate. Its generous and so, so good. As I said above, it was some of the best sausage I had the whole time I was in France. And the whole shop smells of it too so it's impossible not to be hungry. Unless you are vegetarian- then maybe stick with the cheese.

This place is so cool! I met up with some friends in Paris…read moreand one of them organised for a bigger group of us to meet here for food, wine and good times - and that's exactly what we had! The booking was originally for 15 people so they had a few high tables in the middle of the place reserved for us, I was immediately struck by the cool ambience of the place - it's very classy and also feels totally Parisian! Of course we had to get some wine and the guy behind the bar let us taste them before we decided if we wanted them or not! I was easily pleased (my wine was pink, that's all I need) but my friends got to try a few different reds before picking a bottle. The staff were really friendly and helpful, as well as being extremely knowledgable about the wines, of course! We also ordered a planche mixte which comprises of charcuterie and cheese, and all of it was totally excellent! There was some smoked ham, salami, three different types of cheese, cherry tomatoes and cornichons, as well as honey to have with the softer one of the cheeses and we scoffed the lot. There was also copious amounts of bread - when we asked for more we were quickly brought some which was brilliant, I like it when places appreciate how important bread is! There ended up being probably at least 20 of us because a few people showed up by surprise, and the staff were again very accommodating about this - bringing extra chairs and still managing to be very attentive despite how many of us there were! It was a great night and L'Ivress is definitely somewhere I'd like to come back to when I'm back in Paris - at €4 for my glass of wine and €25 for the planche it was pretty reasonable too, especially for Paris!
