In my mind, the perfect cafe perfectly captures the "third place" concept - cozy enough to feel like home. I think the Dutch call that vibe - 'gezellig'. The perfect cafe also has a well-rounded selection of teas, coffees, sandwiches, cakes, and a solid soup of the day. Finally, because I am also slightly basic, the perfect cafe must be insta-worthy from the design of its store to the plating of its food and coffees. Sand's, Cakes and Bubbles is a perfect cafe. From the cozy decor, to the menus hung cutely on clothing hangers, to the beautifully garnished food and drinks, everything about Sand's Cakes and Bubbles is insta-worthy and gezellig to the power of lekker. And yes .. lekker. I have had my share of sandwiches in my lifetime, and the way they balance flavours in their sandwiches at Sand's, Cakes & Bubbles is really jaw-dropping. KoffieTentje is a very cute, small and stylish coffee bar. There's a very calm and laid back atmosphere making it perfect to sit in and unwind while enjoying your coffee (and perhaps a piece of brownie? Trust me, their brownies are amazing.) While ordering my coffee, I've chatted with the owner a few times and to simply put it, she's incredibly nice and welcoming. She doesn't mind having a little chat and seems genuinely interested. So to say that in the first month since opening I've darkened KoffieTenTje's door nearly a dozen times, I'm very impressed with their coffee. The interior is friendly, earthly and modern, and the music is always good (a mix of chilled electronica and folk). The vibe very much reminds me of a less busy Five Elephants (Berlin-based coffee heaven). Lastly I have to say something about the woman who owns it; basically she's lovely. Welcoming, happy, remembers you and your order. I've chatted with her a few times, sometimes in Dutch, more often in English and she's always chatty.
