I've tried al pastor at different spots and it could be a hit or miss. Ordered the Al Pastor Torta and this was so good!! Our last day in Cancun and we wanted to go back hoping to order more al pastor but since we came too early it wasn't ready yet. If you're wanting to try it, I would say aim for a later time! There's no "local" pricing so if you want to eat where the locals eat, you have to venture into Downtown Cancun. If you're looking for street food/stands, Parque de Las Palapas is the place for you. There are a ton of food merchants and I felt a little overwhelmed because I didn't know which one to choose. We opted to try Dona Chonita because we saw a lot of locals order from here. Whatever you decide to order, expect it to be delicious! We got a torta, tacos and a tamale all for under $4! All DELICIOUS! It's a no-frills type of place and when they call out your order, there's a salsa bar and you can just add whatever you want. I loved my torta and how the bread was lightly toasted. The tacos were delicious and I loved the way the meat was prepared. If you told me that I would only have local food for my entire trip to Cancun, I would gladly accept.
