This was our 3rd stay at the Manoir du Quesnay (twice as a couple and once with our two girls)…read more Jacques and Alix run a world-class B&B. The Manoir has several rooms in the main house as well as several more in the "boat house". Its location is perfect to visit all of the northern coast sites and is easy to find. The staff is very efficient and quality oriented. Everything in and around the Manoir is clean and well kept. On several occasions I have asked for restaurant recommendations and every time we have been very impressed with the food. I can say that Jacques and Alix are always prepared to provide recommendations for a day trip, all of the details and even make reservations for you if recquired. Just minutes to the town of Bayeux (and the famous Tapestry) or all of the Normandy WW2 sites/Museums/Cemeteries. Easy Drive to Mont St. Michael and the beautiful coast of norther France. Just ask Jacques and he will gladly be your tour designer, answering questions, providing historical context, providing maps, making great suggestions, etc. If you are a Band of Brothers fan, you are very close to all the key areas of the 101st airborne activities from D-Day (episodes 2 and 3). Carentan and Brecourt Manor are just a short drive away. There is also a number of monuments and museums that honor those great men. If you are a fan of Saving Private Ryan then you have all of the cities and sights all within easy reach. The opening and closing scene were shot in the American cemetery in Coleville. An absolute must see. I cannot say enough about how much we love staying at this B&B. I do not think you can find a better combination of location, quality and people anywhere in France. This is a must stay if you are headed north of Paris.

If you are looking for a magical and beautiful escape in Normandy, you've found it. The photos…read morereally do not do the property justice. The grounds include ponds, woods, fields, beautiful old buildings, a surprise swingset, and race horses. You read that right--race horses. They breed beautiful horses there. Manoir de Cleronde is a little piece of paradise tucked away on an unassuming country road. The property has only been owned by two families since it was built in the 1600s--which is pretty astounding. The owners are amazing hosts and so gracious. Breakfast in the morning is continental. You can start your Normandy adventure with a hearty breakfast of meats and cheeses, lovely pastries, freshly made crepes, fruit, cereal, eggs and more, and you can sweeten your morning treats with some fresh honey from bees kept right on property. Guests have the rights to explore the grounds, and I highly recommend you spend some time doing so. It's just lovely. Gwenael, the owner of the manoir, speaks terrific English, and he is more than happy to share the history of the property and the area. He will also help you with restaurant recommendations, sightseeing advice, getting a taxi--whatever you need. We were fortunate to stay in the barn which has been converted into a palatial living space complete with an expansive living area (with a giant banquet table), two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, and a small stove. The family has done a marvelous job decorating the entire estate and making you feel like royalty. If you want a truly special place to stay to build some lifelong memories--Manoir de Cleronde is it. Le manoir est magnifique.
