Located in Polanco, Mexico City, La once mil is a relatively new place that specializes in upscale tacos. Their signature taco is a picanha taco, still juicy, sliced thinly off the trompo onto a handmade corn tortilla. The juicy meat over the freshly made, warm tortilla was one of the best bites we had in Mexico.
We also enjoyed their lechon y pork belly taco, which had bits of crispy pork and juicy roasted pork.
Both of these tacos were able to be spiced up with fresh salsas, limes, and pickled onions, served at the table.
Our last taco was an arracherra taco with cheese crust (costra) that had good charcoal flavor. It was "Tijuana style", which was very familiar to me, given that I'm from Southern California.
The tacos here were elevated and I'll definitely come back when I'm in town, but they are a little more than $6 (USD) each. Despite the expensive cost, the quality of the taco is there. read more
