My teenaged daughter and I, parked on the USA parking lot and walked across the border into Mexico then took a taxi which cost only $4. We happily walked back to the border with our loaded backpacks. It took us 25 minutes to walk back down to the border site via the Main Street. There was also ample parking space. It was a fun and successful candy run!

Good ol' Mexico granted us with our very own Suspiros Bakery in Nogales and I am so happy they did!…read moreWhile it's not very hard to drive to Mexico and get a cake from one of there very many locations in Nogales, Sonora...this just saves us the hassle and time. A couple of things to note: *They do not bake on site. *Their cakes/cheesecakes/cookies/jello/etc. are brought from their Tucson locations daily. So if you want a specific flavor, I suggest you call it in and order it a couple days in advance as they only have a certain variety on display in-store. Now onto all things cake...their cake is amazing! Some of the most moist cake I have ever had (try & say "most moist 5 times fast, LOL!). I can't begin to tell you all the flavors I have had from there. Not one has disappointed. Mazapan (crushed candy made of crushed peanuts & sugar....taste like peanut butter) is my absolute favorite! They also sell specific flavors by the slice every day (varies daily). They're only $2.50 per slice and also BOGOF. Bonus! $2.50 for two large slices of cake? I'm in! So they always have a good dozen different cakes for you to pick up on any given day as well as cookies or brownies and paper plates, utensils & candles. Any special order must be called in. It's great to see such a successful Mexican bakery make it's way over to the states. Nogales doesn't have very many bakeries and the few we do have don't offer cakes like Suspiros. Definitely a must if you want a delicious cake for a birthday, anniversary or just because you want a damn good cake because today ends in "Y."

I used that time to walk around and sip on my smoothie. Service was kurt, but efficient. My smoothie had a creamy yogurt base. Blended with raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. It was quite good. My pizza came out as told and it, too, was good. The dough was an airy thick crust. The zucchini dominated the vegetables. The pizza filled me up and I had no leftovers. I would have tried a cannoli but the only dessert available were cheesecakes. This little place opened up several years ago as a dessert stand.
