The food was amazing! I had there mole. It was different than any other mole that I have ever had. It was a bit sweet, peanut forward, but that just might not be the region I am used to (more pepper, not necessarily hot, and not so sweet, more savory.). Either way it was excellent! The server was kind and efficient. She actually talked me out of a margarita flight (good on her!) the restaurant is housed in an old home that has an apartment above, so you know this is literally a mom and pop shop. Nice people! We got a window seat overlooking the Tillamook Farmers Market on a busy Saturday. The restaurant is showing its age a bit. The chips and salsa were ok - I felt the salsa was runny and the chips bland, but the Hubbs liked them. I ordered a house margarita on the rocks - it was good. Then the Hubbs fit the Mexican pizza. Nice and crunchy with flavorful fillings. I had the Enchiladas La Crema, which was good. Even though they brought be beef instead of chicken. I ordered a beef taco on the side because that says a lot about your food overall. The taco was delicious even though a little grease ran from the bottom. Not a bad meal. read more

We got here tonight about 30 minutes until closing time and our server took amazing care of us. We got a pitcher of the spicy margarita which had the best flavor. I also ordered the plain cheese quesadilla and chicken tortillas soup for myself which I thought both tasted pretty bland and lacking of flavor, I would come here again for the drinks though. It's not a very big restaurant so seating can be limited, especially during busier hours. There is also parking at the restaurant, although I did not notice handicapped entrances. read more

La Mexicans went there by myself on a Monday night and it was packed... families coming in pretty at a steady flow while I was there.... staff handled the turnover very well... I was able to jockey into a table ahead of another family..... the seating was pretty tight but not to bad... the food was good I had a chile colorado rellano... nice flavor and cooked right... the beans which came with it were good along with the Spanish rice and celantro... I like to smash it all together and eat it... yummy... to drink I had a kiwi margarita which was very good also.... Classic American Mexican food. Service was a bit slow. Food came out a bit slow too. But it was tasty and cost was good. My Cadillac margarita was a little too sweet. I still enjoyed it. Be careful!!! when they ask you if you want guacamole and sour cream with your meal. It cost $3 extra. I like the house the restaurant is in. Was super smoky though. SO GREAT! My carnitas plate was perfectly sized, meat was tender and crisp in parts, tortillas were warm, rice and beans were well seasoned, and the salsa was delicious. Our group of 4 (average age 76). combo plate with tamale & taco, carnita dinner, chimichanga dinner, and burrito dinner. None of us felt the food was great or even good. Food wasn't hot. The place was not busy. Service at the beginning gathering drinks was great, but then when we wanted more chips, bean dip and salsa it never showed up even with our dinner. We had to stop another server to ask again. Marlena, our server came back when we were almost finished to say..how is everything. Then she wanted to sell us dessert. We had to stop Marlena to tell her the margaritas were too sweet and very weak. The pitcher of margaritas was "lousy", tasted like a mix without any tequila. We told our server Marlena and she said, oh that is how they make them. My husband even stopped at the end and told Marlena to tell her manager they were not good. He felt she blew him off. The music was very loud, no ambience. We live here and wanted to take our company to a great local place. Well that idea didn't work. First visit today, I stopped into La Mexicana this afternoon for lunch with my wife. The restaurant is a very cute converted house with a decent sized parking lot. We stepped in and were greeted by the cutest hostess (I'm guessing she was about 8 years old :) ) We were quickly seated and the waitress immediately came by with chips, salsa, and bean dip. I ordered a beer as we were looking over the menu and it also came right out with a an ice cold frosted mug (nice!) I ordered the enchilada ranchera (red sauce beef enchilada topped with a fried egg), the wife ordered pork carnitas, and we split a sampler platter of appetizers. Everything looked and tasted fresh and flavorful. My egg was perfectly cooked and my enchilada was very tasty. My wife's carnitas portion was very generous and looked delicious. The appetizer sampler was really good with nachos, ground beef quesadillas, chicken taquitos, guacamole and sour cream (I would have been happy with just that for lunch) I also noticed that the sampler platter looked exactly like the menu picture (Pleasant surprise) Service was great! I believe there were 3 waitresses serving us seamlessly as a team and they made sure we had everything we needed and checked in frequently. (Tip: Be friendly and respectful to your servers and 9 out of 10 times it's returned with interest) The final bill was also very reasonable for what we ordered. This is a great family style restaurant that we will happily go back to in the future. read more

Loved this restaurant when we lived here but in return find it greatly lacking. Took 1 hour to get our dinner, plates were barely warm when usually Mexican meals here come on piping hot plates. Food was lukewarm. Service was more than adequate with 3 waitresses for 6-7 tables & they frequently asked if we wanted more chips or beverage refills. But twice we asked how our food was coming and they never returned with a reply. Food itself was not up to the past standard. At the end when we asked about the owner Carlos their attitude quickly changed to super friendly. He was not present or we would have seen him throughout our stay. From community remarks we learned that the downhill trend on this place seems to be consistent with others experience & that's Terrible because Mexican food trucks are ALL over this town. While competition is tough if you offer great indoor, sit down service, I'm told by local folks, the people will come. So please don't let your restaurant die!!!! read more

We enjoyed the ambiance that this restaurant holds. It is lovely, set in a once stately home representing the architecture of this community. The food presented well. The chef makes use of white onions in many dishes. The fajita steak sizzles and is seasoned well. The burrito Colorado was our table favorite. read more

Mexicana is a local place in Tillamook. Its a family owned spot that we always try and stop at when going through town especially during the summer. The owners are usually there and have a chat with the patrons. Covid rules have made everything more difficult dining out but this place has it dialed in! It's one way through the restaurant. All the staff is wearing their masks too. So it's feels safer than a lot of places that flout the rules. We ordered a giant shrimp plate, carne asada, and we basically tried every margarita they had! We had a large family of 10 and they easily accomodated us. Very patient with the kids too. Although ours are generally well behaved. Keep your masks on people! Enjoy the food and good times. Order the mango frozen margarita! It's the only one I didn't get a pic of! read more

A bit overrated. Service wasn't the best. Took awhile for our order. They were asked several times for more salsa and when it never arrived we had to ask a different waitress walking by. The waitress forgot a 2nd drink requested for our table. Tacos A Pastore with deep fried shells was a new one. Greasy and flavorless. The food was bland and barely lukewarm. I couldn't add enough salsa or hot sauce to get it to taste decent. The table seating for 4 was more like an over sized table for 2, certainly too small for a comfortable 4 person seating. A very disappointing dinner. After we finished, we gave up on our 2nd rounds of drinks and the waitress returning and left and paid up front without a ticket. Came in with my family of 8, including a baby! We were seated, and the chips were brought in almost immediately. We then ordered our drinks. These took about 15/20 to get to the table. The server was very sweet and attentive but we could tell she was overwhelmed since the restaurant was busy. We ordered our food, and it took almost an hour for it to arrive. When it finally arrived, it didn't disappoint! It was great! The food was fresh, well prepared, and very tasty. The 4 star rating is really because it took too long for the food to get to the table. This place doesn't give a rats behind if the customer is happy with their food. I ordered two items on the mix and match portion of the menu. When it came out, only one item was visible, along with the rice and refried beans and a half of a head of lettuce with tomato and sour cream. I found out buried under the lettuce was my other item. The whole response from the staff was negative, no effort was made to make it right. This may seem small, however when you order a crispy item, I don't see why you'd bury it under lettuce and hope the customer knows what you have done.
