After a long day's hike at Malinche, there was no way my fellow trekkers and I were going to make it all the way back to Mexico City without dying of starvation. So, I did some searches for the nearest taco stop along the way and home, and this place stood out, but not without going through some shady parts of town to get there.
It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall. Not clean. Tacky gumball machines by the entrance/exit and TVs playing random cartoons in the backdrop. But who cares about all that when the food is absolutely stunning?
Seven of us must have ordered at least 50 tacos (mostly a combination of pastor and Arabe). The Arabe were out of this world, slap-your-momma good. I went here over two weeks ago and I've since dreamed of them.
The service was also spot-on.
Foolishly, the bill came to just over $700 MXN (or about $35 US) and the seven of us (that's right - 7 of us) left more stuffed than a piñata. read more
