A lot of good stuff going on here - charming family staff, cute decor, clean, airy but homey, and everything I had was delicious (that horchata though, mmmmn). But I have to be very clear about this: La Hermosa's owner is making and serving the best mole I've ever tasted in my life. The fact that it's a family recipe passed through oral tradition just makes it feel more special, but the bottom line is that it is PERFECTION, the perfect balance of sweet and heat, so rich, so good. Best Mexican food in Chaska! The staff is friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. We went for Sunday brunch, the selection was impressive, everything was fresh, hot and homemade. Oh my. Not a good experience. We have eaten here a few times, and have never really been "wowed" by the food. It was mediocre at best. Until this last time. We ordered takeout from here. I had the steak Sopes, and my wife had the chicken Enchiladas. It was terrible. The steak on my Sopes was inedible. It was dry and chewy, and lacking any flavor. I ate 1/2 of one and threw the rest away. My wife said the chicken tasted dry and old, like it had been reheated. I think we'll be taking a break from here for a while to see if things improve. read more

We came in 15 minutes before closing and they were very willing to seat us. Seems like a family run business and they were all busy cleaning, since it was closing time. They didn't rush us and served us great food. We loved how clean it was and will be back!! read more

This was one of the worst restaurants I've been to. We got an iced tea that tasted like something was wrong with the machine. Then we asked for an order of chips and cheese dip and were served 10 STALE chips and bland melted cheese. After 15 minutes of poor service and terrible food/drink we decided to leave. Just a quick update after my last trip here. The food is still awesome and the service has been great every time. As an FYI if you were someone who skipped this place because they did not serve alcohol, they now have bottles of multiple Mexican beers (I saw Corona, Dos Equis, Tecate, and a couple of others I don't remember offhand) and it says they have margaritas. The weekend buffet is a great time to check it out so that you can sample a lot of their dishes. Again, I highly recommend this place for Mexican food in Chaska. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday around 2pm. They have an all day buffet from 10-5 although you can also order from their menu. As it was our first time we figured we'd try the buffet. I can't speak for how busy they usually are since was there at an off time but there were a couple of other customers there. The buffet had a decent selection to make tostadas, hard shell tacos, and soft shell tacos. Fixings include refried beans, rice, pork, Barbacoa chicken, shrimp (diablo and garlic), and ribs along with vegetables, salsas, and such. Unfortunately due to our timing the tostada and hard taco shells were a bit cold. They did refresh a lot of the meat items and tortillas shortly after we arrived. They also had tamales (a bit heavy on the masa), chile rellenos (nice heat since they left the seeds in), chicken enchiladas (great amount of chicken and a flavorfulgreen chili), menudo, and some desserts. Overall the food had some decent flavor and the waiter was attentive enough for a buffet. A decent place to try if in the area. read more

Had my first experience here yesterday and I was surprised at how good the food was. Decor is nothing exciting, server was friendly, prompt and attentive, the chips were fine but the salsa was fantastic, the chicken tacos and chicken sopas were delicious, rice was decent, beans good, and desserts...yes, try them, all of them. Prices were very fair. Reason for the 5 star is I went there for a quick lunch, wanted good food and got it. Will be going back soon to try the breakfast. read more

We tried this place out for dinner while in the mood for a sit down mexican restaurant. We ended up going back the next morning for their breakfast! We had carne asada and carnitas for dinner, and both were great! Service was excellent! The brunch ended up being a buffet with breakfast options and many more traditional mexican dishes. Fabulous family owned restaurant, the owners cook and waitress! We decided to try someplace we've never been and we were not disappointed. Super friendly, polite, quick, and DELICIOUS Mexican food. We ordered the chips/homemade salsa, shrimp tacos, and La Hermosa Burrito. Yummy chipotle peanut sauce for the tacos, (the shrimp was perfect) and the burrito was full of meat. They make their own homemade tortillas too. We will be going back! read more

The atmosphere is decent but the server was definitely one of the slowest I have seen. 10 minutes to get chips and salsa at a MEXICAN restaurant. It also took longer than usual to get food but the food was above average for other restaurants west of the cities. The carnitas tacos or enchiladas are worth a trip. read more

Who puts lettuce and sour cream on chilaquiles? Nowhere near "authentic" Mexican food. Both hubby and I got stomach aches after eating here.

Begin the evening with stale chips. There's more other food than Mexican food and it's probably better anyway. The steak in burritos is like burnt rabbit turds. Shredded chicken is 'authentic Mexican' which is the cheap parts. Not reflected in the price. You'll walk out paying $11 per plate without booze...because there is none. No margaritas, Coronas, etc. no Mexican music. Don't let the name fool you. It's NOT a Mexican restaurant. The people working there were very nice, but place has a long way to go to meet quality of a sit-down restaurant. read more

We have eaten here several times and enjoyed it each time. The menu is varied and different from the usual at other local Mexican restaurants. The house-made salsa which comes with the chips is delicious. We had a combination enchilada plate for 2. The shrimp was tender and flavorful. The carnitas and chicken were tender and delicious. We opted for black beans instead of retried red beans--an excellent choice! They have been adding decorations and the restaurant has a fun feel and nice ambience. Meals are so good! Make sure to make it to the Mexican buffet on Saturday and Sunday! Doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary when you walk past, just a regular restaurant in a small town. Everything is authentic I am from Mexico and it has been the most authentic food outside of Mexico I have been tried. The prices are fair, staff is cordial and the restaurant is family friendly. My husband and I stopped at La Hermosa last night after attending a soccer game for our granddaughter in Chanhassen. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food is. The young waiter told us that everything is freshly made and that was very obvious from the bright green color of the fresh guacamole to the homemade salsa, dressings, and sauces on the burrito and taco salad. The waiter was right there, catering to our every need and want. We will definitely be going back to this place. The waiter told us they have a Sunday brunch with both American and Mexican cuisine -- we'll probably try that the next time. The prices were also very reasonable. read more
