I just returned from two weeks of school at La Hacienda and highly recommend it! Luis and the other teachers are top notch. They are able to ascertain your level of competence and meet you where you, while encouraging and challenging you to improve. I felt very supported and comfortable. I stayed at a homestay that Luis arranged and it was a great part of the experience too. Luis even can pick you up and return you to the airport in Leon! Guanajuato is a beautiful city, with a rich history and wonderful museums and sights. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I hope to return. read more

Loved loved this school. I came for a week and wish I was staying longer. I'll definitely be back. The teachers are very skilled at teaching to your specific level. They also provide tea and coffee which was a nice touch. Because the classrooms are mostly outside it's a very COVId safe place to be. I sent my 19 year old son down to Guanajuato for two weeks during his break from college in January 2023 to take advanced Spanish classes at La Hacienda Spanish School. Luis took great care of him. Picked him up at the airport and placed him with a nice family in a very centrally located home in Guanajuato. He enjoyed the classes...the teachers were very good...and he met other students from around the world. He loved Guanajuato...great tacos and sightseeing. He also took a weekend trip to San Miguel de Allende which he greatly enjoyed. Five stars for La Hacienda Spanish School...we highly recommend it. read more

My husband and I have been at the school for a month now and our Spanish has improved so much. The owners are two of the teachers and they provide personalized instruction and guidance in Spanish. Another teacher, Lupita, is our conversation teacher and she is exceptional as well. Even though the classes are "group" so far our classes have been rather small. Having a couple other people in the conversation actually helps spur us on to talk more. LOVE THIS SCHOOL. The location is beyond beautiful. The school is a renovated hacienda from the colonial times (maybe 250-300 years old). It has been updated with new electrical and wifi, and the bathrooms are very nice, too! It is a very pleasant environment for learning. The city is small enough to walk around...you definitely don't need a car. The buses are efficient and about 25 cents per trip, and the taxis are convenient, too, and $2-$3 for anywhere you want to go. Most people just walk. The city is also big enough that you can find virtually everything you want...at good prices! There is a ton of cultural and arts opportunities in this city, as well as day trips that have been so cool. One of the owners, Luis, provides trips on Saturday and they have been excellent. He is a pleasant conversationalist so it's like getting a 5-hour conversation class for the price of the tour! There are also a zillion cute coffee places and restaurants for studying! I can't recommend this place enough!! I came here for only one week with my sister. And we loved it! She and I are at different levels of Spanish language and we both had instruction at our specific levels. I took private lessons and she had small group. All of the teachers were outstanding and responsive to student level and need. The space is beautiful, mostly outdoors (COVID safe) and the community they created is welcoming and warm. We can't wait to return! read more
