It is not cheap, and it is…read moresomewhat risky, as the menu for the day is pre-set, but the food is very good, and the portions are truly enormous -- almost to the point where you wish they'd give you less. The day we were there, the courses were: - Salad - Vegetables and cod - Snails - Cheese - Choice of dessert Each course probably could have been a meal on its own, and on top of all that, we were gorging on their incredible bread throughout the meal. The salad was very good, with the one downside being that it had anchovies, which we're not fans of. We both thought the veggies and fish were fairly pedestrian -- good, but not something I'd be really excited to get again. The snails, on the other hand, were surprisingly great. Neither of us eat snails, but we decided to be brave, and were rewarded for it. They were outstanding, as was the restaurant's home made mustard that we dipped them in. The cheese, though, is what we'll really remember though. For this course, they brought out a giant tray of cheeses, and you take as much of each as you want. By this point in the meal, we were both incredibly stuffed, but it didn't matter -- we took a ton of cheese, and it was tremendous. We both felt pretty gross afterwards, but it was worth it. That wasn't even the end, though -- after a little cool down period, we got dessert. My wife got chocolate ice cream, and I got the chocolate mousse, which was outstanding. Altogether, this is an experience I would definitely recommend, as we really enjoyed it, but it's not without its warts. My biggest pieces of advice would be to be prepared to eat a LOT, and check the menu in advance.

The food was amazing, large portions, great wine options, and did I mention they age their own steaks and have a rotisserie...what more could you want? I have never been treated so well or felt more at home in all of Europe. A great town, and more than just being nurished...beyond barriers, I felt understood! And isn't that what food is all about!

We had eaten at the main square in Maussane a few years back and were eager to return. We were greeted warmly enough, but things went downhill from there. The service was abrupt and inconsistent. Once we finished our meals, they left the plates, with food remains, sitting in front of us for close to 30 minutes. We were inundated with flies and bees and still no one came to clear our plates. I eventually covered the plates with napkins in an effort to evade the pests and was met with incredulity by the server when he eventually returned to tend to us. I understand that service is more leisurely in France...not the hovering servers we have become accustomed to in America...and I usually appreciate that. But, in this case, it was not a meal amongst adults or a couple, rather it was a mother and her four children (who were behaving quite politely, despite the crappy service) who had long ago finished their meals and were clearly ready to order dessert and/or receive the check. When they finally delivered the bill (after several requests) the server was unfriendly and acted perturbed. I never write negative reviews...this honestly may be my first ever, but I left tonight's dinner completely disgusted and turned off. Food was ok...not special enough to justify a return visit in light of the poor service.

It's about 5-10min drive from Les Baux and totally worth it! After ordering pizza at the counter, you give your name and get seated outdoors. When the pizza is ready, they ring the bell and call out your name. Then you go inside and bring the pizza. We ordered Montagnette and absolutely loved it. The pizza size is large and can easily serve two or three people. The crust is very thin and crunchy and toppings are generous. Highly recommend!

However, if you happen to walk in, as long as you can find a table without a piece of paper on it saying reserved, you can sit down. There is not a wait staff. You go to the counter and order your pizza and grab whatever drink you want. Then go sit down and enjoy a cozy ambiance and wait. Once that your pizza is ready, he calls your name to go and grab your pizza and take it to your table. It is a thin crust pizza with delicious and generous amount of toppings. It is as if you are eating an Italian food but with French taste in mind: Goat cheese, figs, zucchini just to name a few toppings. After you are done eating, you will go pay for your food and clean up your own table and leave. The price is very reasonable with each pizza being somewhere between 12-15 Euros. One pizza is more than enough for two people.
