If I ever move to Mexico, Coyoacàn is one of my top 5 choices…read more I absolutely loved everything about Parque Hidalgo. The park is surrounded with beautiful historic buildings, a church, famous coffee shops, ice-cream shops, and restaurants. Within the park you'll see little historic facts about it. A few years ago, the market stands were right in the park, but to avoid the abundance amount of people in one place, those stands have been moved. It was a great idea, so anyone who wants to buy souvenirs can go to the 2 floor building and spend time there. It gives those enjoying the park more free room to breathe. You're not going to get hungry here - the plaza is surrounded by restaurants. The building at the end of the park is where Cortez set up his first provisional government when he invaded Tenochtitlan. It's now a place that looks out for the Coyoacan neighborhood. The Parroquia de San Juan Bautista overlooks the park, and is a beautiful church to check out. They were having a wedding during one of my visits!
