But I'll start with the breakfast sandwiches. Both the bacon and egg as well as the salmon, egg and avocado were fresh and the bread had the lightly wood fired flavor to it. The espresso was spot on and the pizzas we had in the evening were also excellent. We had the Quattro Formaggi that was the best ever in regards to the types of cheeses on this pizza. Definitely a must stop!

After walking a very long distance from the new town and getting fully lost in the winding streets of the old town, we just wanted a simple, light lunch with some booze. Ordered a sparkling rose, a beer, bar olives and two different tapas style appetizer samplers typical of the Puglia region. My platter had: crostini with bruschetta, mystery cheese (I never learned what this was!) that tastes like queso fresco with a pickled beet jawn on top, mini eggplant lasagna, a pizza fritta pocket, grilled cheese, meatballs, and buffalo mozzarella. BF's platter had: caprese tomato/mozzarella combo with seasoned olive oil and side of pesto, meatballs, grilled cheese and a quinoa salad. Both platters were fresh and tasty. Perfect portion for a light lunch and a true taste of the region. Perhaps a tad overpriced since it was a bit touristy here, however, I think I preferred this app sampler to that of La Uascezze and I loved that place, so it was worth it. Plus, it was a great way to kill a few hours and look out at the sea.

You feel that warm hospitality that is so common in this region and it's festive, even when it's not St. Paddy's. They play all kinds of music, especially 60s-80s. So fun! I ordered two frieselle, a tomato/olive and a vegetarian (loaded with squash, radicchio, and tomatoes). I appreciate how generous they are with all the veggies and olives. A sprinkle of oil and salt make this so delicious and satisfying. Paired with a glass of wine... how good can you get?

I know my Belgian beers, and what they're serving is not what they're claiming it to be. The place was almost empty on a Saturday night with a World Cup match on (which tells you everything you need to know) and it still took the waitress 20+ minutes in between visits to the table. Finally had to go to the bar for service. Literally anywhere in Catania would be better for food, beer, and especially service.
