It is virtually impossible to find all natural organic products in Santiago, this is why I love…read morePunto Saludable. It is one of the only small shops that has things like organic quinoa, maki, coconut oil, and lots of all natural cosmetics. They also have coconut water, all natural yogurts, and a wide assortment of healthy snacks. Punto Saludable reminds me a lot of all the health food stores I miss back home. The only downside is that it is super super super expensive. It is great if you go in once or twice a month to stock up on quinoa or other things for your pantry, but watch out cause it is really easy to go overboard and over your budget. However it is small and locally owned so at least you can feel good about buying sustainably and supporting the community.

Although there are a couple of other organic/veggie stores close by Punto Saludable differentiates themselves by packing their small store with more than the average organic nuts, tofu and fruit selection of many. They offer gluten/dairy/soy free rice pasta, as well as lasagna sheets ($3590 CLP for a large box). They also sell gluten free rice and flax bread! They have 2 kinds fresh tofu, huevos de campo/free range eggs and sell all natural Pucara (local Chilean farm) yogurt for 2.000 per liter (seriously cheap!), along with pajaritos (the mother) to make your own yogurt at home. They also have natural food grade oils such as the all-purpose coconut oil. They also sell unsweetened (boxed) almond milk for 3 mil/liter. The best part is, from what I've seen, they are about half the price of other health food stores like Planta Maestra. The owners are super nice and friendly and will help you with answering questions and finding what you need. They even have a suggestion book for things they should carry!

This is the perfect store to pick up an organic or veggie treat…read more They have everything any vegan, vegetarian or just plain health nut can need. When my mom was visiting, I wanted to make sure I had everything for her to make her feel at home so I went to Planta Maestra and picked up her favorite brand of Almond milk and although it was a bit more expensive than in the states (it cost 4 mil) I was very happy to know I had the option of getting it here. Planta Maestra has a couple of other stores in Santiago, but I have seen this one in Bellas Artes, although smaller, has better prices (however, in general, the majority of what they sell is on the expensive side). They also have dried cranberries that are sugar and preservative free! The products they sell are from the same well-known organic and vegan brands you can find in the states. Planta Maestra also sells beauty products and stuff to make baby food! If you are looking for essential oils to make your own lotions or shampoos you can find them here - including tea tree oil. If you need any types of teas, yogurt, coconut water, almond flour etc they have it. They also sell tasty desserts and cookies that are vegan and gluten free! Everything here is delicious. They also have a frozen section with tofu and other snacks. Overall, a small organic and vegan shop to get even the most difficult to find products to make a healthy lifestyle easy in this polluted city.

I am very surprised that this restaurant has 4 stars…read more The lasagna was so bland we had to salt it thoroughly. The quesadilla tortillas were more like tortilla chips. Everything was really lacking flavor. We were thoroughly disappointed. Also, the portions were so small we all had to go eat something else afterward. Overpriced vegetarian with small portions & bland taste in a restaurant that did not really have an indoors - like a tent but with gaps in the fabric. And there was no heating in winter so we were cold in like a tent. None of us would ever return. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is because the server was nice.

The restaurant is a cute little restaurant, very relaxed and chill vibe to the restaurant. It isn't a fancy place by any means, but it has such great food! See below for some of my favorites [Couldn't find the menu online, so item names may not be exact]: Quesadillas with Vegan Cheese - One of my favorite dishes. If you are expecting a traditional quesadilla, think again. This Vegan cheese quesadilla was the perfect mix of all great flavors. The corn tortilla was thin and crispy and very flavorful. Acai Bowl - as always a GREAT pick to start the meal with. The acai bowl came with granola and bananas and had the perfect flavor. Lasagna - I am not sure if we got the vegan cheese on the lasagna but it was AMAZING. Just like all the other food great pick. Chili - Don't expect a traditional chili by any means. The chili was yellow and we assumed it was more corn based. The flavors were great and included mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, and a few black olives [which I don't like, but was able to take out]. Another great dish. Vegan burgers - I didn't have them, but my coworkers definitely said the vegan burgers were great! Kiwi Pear Juice - for my drink i ordered the kiwi pear juice and it was very refreshing, light and on point.

I was walking my dog when I decided to venture into a mini plaza off of Merced. It was a plaza…read morefilled with either cafes or service stores that didn't allow dogs however, as I was turning around to leave, I spotted a store that I couldn't resist but peer into their window. As I started walking over, the owner immediately opened the door and told me to come in - that dogs were welcome! I entered and my heart skipped a beat. Not only did she have natural food and treats for dogs and cats (imported from the US!) but she also had organic/natural treats for humans too! Among the beautifully arranged goodies she offers, there are a few things that caught my eye. 1. Her simple selection of high-quality chocolate with cacao ranging from 70-100% --she even has cacao nibs!! (I bought the 100% at 1.500 for 100 grams and it is good, albeit sweeter than expected) 2. Natural energy drinks. (I rarely drink energy drinks, but I have taken note for New Years Eve and will stock up!) 3. As I was leaving, her brother walked in with a small canvas bag and started pulling out plastic containers with what he explained was natural yogurt he makes at home. He adds fresh or dried fruit and honey all for the incredible price of 500 pesos!! This is my new go-to snack when I'm in the centro (way better than the yogurt frappes they offer in Paradiso or Starbucks). The Best part of my experience here was by far how friendly the owner and her brother were. They even offered to special order some things for me!! PS if you are a runner I suggest stopping by and talking with the owner she is an avid marathon runner (at age 62!!) and can give you all of her tips for training in the city.
