Café-Bar Ansu is a good restaurant/bar to stop by, as there is ample seating and a very inexpensive Menu al Dia (7.95 gets you two courses and a soda). Although we were not very hungry, other patrons with their ice-cold beers convinced us that we should follow suit.
There is only one beer on draft: Estrella Galicia. I remember Café-Bar Ansu with particular fondness because it was my first time trying Estrella Galicia on tap. (Although the Spanish are not going to be brewmasters anytime soon, Estrella Galicia is decent for what it is: an affordable pale lager.) One Estrella Galicia turned into two, which turned into a lazy afternoon of hanging out and people-watching (there is outdoor seating).
Most of the patrons of this particular restaurant are from the neighborhood. It was refreshing to hang out at a local fixture, not feel rushed or ripped off, and to chat briefly with the friendly bartender. It felt so much like home that I almost forgot that I was the out-of-towner.
