We had a beautiful and well equipped room, overlooking the river and even if we could hear it slightly during night even with the window closed, it didn't bother us much. Our double bed was huge and the room was rather spacious. Breakfast was great and the staff was extremely friendly. We even stayed with our cat and the hotel accepted animals for 8€ sup. To finish, they have a big open air parking which was free to use for residents, just across the road from the hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Balzac in March 2016 and were very satisfied. Granted, it's an older style hotel, with small basic rooms and dated furnishings. But it is clean and comfortable, with a friendly staff and a central location in the upper town. (Follow the signs for the Tourist Office. The hotel is on the same street.) About 2 blocks away, at the Place du Général Lariboisière (look for the horse statue), there is a city-owned garage with free parking. The only catch is that it is locked up between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., so you won't have access to your car in the evening. If you're okay with that, this garage is a good place to park overnight.

Both were small but had an antique touch, spacious bathrooms which was appreciated. Flat screen with many channels. We had a balcony. I've always wanted to see the famous abbey Mont St. Michel, and Château de Boucéel, is located about 15 min from Mont. St. Michel. My friend Ken stayed here, and recommended this place. We made it a point to stay here. Its a magnificent property, an estate that dates back to the beginning of the twelfth century and well hidden from the main road. You will need GPS to find this place, especially at night! The owner is an actual Count, whose family owned the chateau for generations, and they even have artifacts all over the house belonging to his family. The photos on the wall aren't just any photos or museum looking pieces, but paintings of his actual ancestors! I stayed here a many years ago, and our bedroom used to belong to the Count's great grandparents. The property went on and on... there were animals, cottages and beautiful flowers. I posted a photo where you can see me poking my head from our bedroom window! You can stay in the chateau or in separate cottages, which used to belong to servants, such as the bakery, the gardener's house, etc. We asked the Count to recommend a non touristy place to eat. He directed us to a little cafe about 15 minutes from the Chateau with the directions "when you get to the only stop light in town, the restaurant is located on the left". Literally one stop light. The rates start at 175 euros and up, and includes breakfast.

Yes it is 'God's town of the frying pans'..... there are loads of shops that sell copper goods and the town makes church bells since the middle ages. I had a wonderful meal of crab cooked in pastry, with a truly awesome sauce, and with a nice glass of white, I was truly happy that we got lost as the restaurant was so charming. Bath is good, nothing to complain here. Breakfast is above average for three star hotels in France. You will get croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette, cereals, yoghurt, eggs and ham as well as good marmalade. Now, the dinner. Don't miss it, because it's really good stuff. Options are a la carte or you choose between three kinds of menus, for 25, 39 or 49 euros.
