If you're looking for more of the upscale Carmel-by-the-Sea vibe, you can find it here in spades…read more It's far enough from Zona Centro for you to avoid most of the tourist congestion but close enough to stroll over. Arresting pieces of public art come into view before you get to the entrance of this former textile factory. Too bad they've been placed rather unphotogenically in the parking lot (Photo 8). They've done an excellent job renovating the buildings and sprucing up the grounds. There are three upmarket components to this expansive complex: art galleries, retail stores, and cafes. It can make for a pleasant browsing experience should you be in the mood for it, but if not, it illustrates a rather polarizing divide between the haves and have-nots in San Miguel de Allende. If you're seriously considering a purchase here, you know which camp you're in. There's certainly enough outdoor furniture and ornate bric-a-brac here to fill your summer home. The only items Jamie W and I bought were a pair of iced coffees and an artful slice of apple pie at Geek & Coffee, a charming terrace cafe on the grounds (Photo 16), a pleasant break before we headed back to town. I told Jorge he is a magician at problem solving landscaping (but he did so much more!) We had bad street noise and Jorge created two waterfall fountains that create magical noise that blocks out the other noise. Our dog misses having 6 acres to run around in so Jorge created a walled in "Jardin de Daisy" and she loves it! A place of her own. Jorge is bi-lingual and he listens very carefully to what you want. He works with you co-creating. His cost was very reasonable and we loved having him at our home so much with his team that we kept creating more work for him. All I can say is there aren't enough stars for Jorge Lopez and the magic he created on our property.

The staff is friendly and helpful, grounds are lovely and breakfast is large and delicious. The negatives are all sort of petty but they add up. Our room had a number of problems--shower took 3-4 mins to heat up, and mid-shower (3 mins in) slowed to a trickle and stopped for a full minute before gradually restarting. The toilet stuck, so unfortunately we wasted a lot of water when we flushed and then went out for the day. Some of the outlets and light switches were inoperable and the WiFi didn't work (unable to join), though there was another network was available in the dining room. Breakfast was tasty and served by a sweet woman, but very very slow (we suspected that she was waiting and bussing the tables and doing all the food prep herself!). That gave us more time to use the Internet in the dining room, but I'm glad we didn't have a pressing engagement. So all in all, I'd say go in with low expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I highly recommend this hotel the front staff Gaby goes left and right to accommodate anything you may need. Perfect for families :)) Muchas gracias gabby
